The Smithsonian Institution was founded for the "increase and diffusion" of knowledge from a bequest to the United States by the British scientist James Smithson, who had never visited the US himself.
If u have to choose either this or the IMAX shows, no doubt this should be it. Free educational screening on stars and planets on selected mornings at 10.30am. Totally worth the ticket price. Amazing!
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:30 AM, a Smithsonian Astronomer leads a complementary lecture using the digital dome exploring the night sky called "The Stars Tonight"; tickets free!
Saw the Black Hole movie here... a little disappointed in the quality of the visual... the film is cool, of course, but I guess I'm spoiled by my HDTV.

Originally called the National Air Museum when it was formed on August 12, 1946 by an act of Congress, some pieces in the National Air and Space Museum collection date back to 1876.

Can't complain about the food! Nice selection of international cuisine (and more "American" things). Great for a brunch or lunch in a nice space, thought it could very well be loud when busy.
Small French Paintings is not to be missed, though it is tucked into a corner near the entrance and is easily overlooked.
