Brian Bell: This is a great little "hike" up to a really cool formation in the rock. The Hole in the Rock is a great vantage point to watch a famous AZ sunset, have a picnic, etc. Parking closes when park closes.

Roseann Higgins: Mountain views overlooking downtown Phoenix. Open from 5:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Great place for a picnic or a run, bike or walk along the canal, right across the street.

Visit Phoenix: Phoenix is home to the largest municipal park in the world. South Mountain Park and Preserve covers more than 16,500 acres and has more than 50 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
Thomas Hawthorne: If you go over by the West side, near 3rd ave during midday, it's a great place for a picnic. Open air grass and you can catch a good breeze. Also, just a small walk from the library.
