Atmosphere and view of downtown is best in Richmond. The food was amazing. I had the broiled seafood dinner. Each item had a distinct natural flavor not overpowered by salt like some seafood places.
Find the statue, from there you get a great view of the james river.

Pay respects at the graves of presidents and some of the Civil War's most famous generals. If you're not creeped out, there's a great picnic spot by Monroe's monument with a great view of the river.
