Lots of great old school games, especially shmups. But stay away from the pinball machines, they're in awful shape.

Games of Street Fighter 2 for 10 yen! Also had Densha De Go if you want to try that (haven't seen that elsewhere)
Head up to the 4th floor (?) to find the ¥10 Super Street Fighter 2 machines. There's only four of them so be patient!

Better than average ramen spot in Akihabara. A great place to drown your sorrows in ramen after you get your ass kicked at Street Fighter.
This was without a doubt the best Ramen we had in Japan, seriously fantastic food, will be back next time I'm in Tokyo

U.F.O catchers are extremelt difficult, better go with gachapon or the excellent arcades.
Fun little arcade but mostly claw machines which are veeeryy hard to win at.
As with other arcades around here, the smoking indoors is kind of intense, but otherwise it's a good arcade. Hey Arcade is a bit better than this one though.
Must-go: retro gaming mecca; bring yen to play the arcade games upstairs. Getting lost in Akiba & then stumbling into this spot was the moment that got me to quit my job to go off to start foursquare.
This place is awesome for retro games and items. If in Japan and a gamer you must visit.
Quite expensive but they have some real gems.
Mike Ross (a Street Fighter World Champion !!) told me (via Twitter) this is where the pros play. Head downstairs, try to look like you belong & prepare to get your ass kicked. I barely won one round.

Doesn't have to be this one, but go to an arcade. And do the photo booths. They're amazing.

Taiko no Tatsujin (the drum game) is the one to go for, absurdly fun.

Lots of fun rides! Not just your usual arcade fare but actual 3D and interactive arcade games. Reminds me of Gameworks in the USA during its prime.
The locals may no longer be impressed but as a tourist and avid gamer I loved it. The half pipe is by far their best attraction. Lines build quickly. Also the day pass is the best value.
Highly recommended. Must be visited every day
So much fun! Two floors of arcade games. The basement level has Tekken, DDR, and slot machines and the first floor has racing and skill based games.
My favorite spot for Mario cart.
