The best bike route is the one from Arlington to Rosslyn. The Georgetown trail connecting it to Rock Creek sucks, but it's worth it.

This historic trail connects Georgetown DC to West Virginia and beyond. Great for biking. Take it 60 miles to the Paw Paw tunnel or to Cumberland, MD for a weekend getaway. B+B stops along the way.

Take the tour from Bike the Sites and ride your bike right up to the steps. Lots of fun and you easily explore all the monuments in less time than it takes walking or bussing.

If you don't like paved paths, try the route behind all of the corrugated metal! It's hilly and weaves but has a clear enough path for biking it to be fun.
