The gem exhibit is phenomenal as it goes in depth about the chemical composition of all kinds of obscure gems.

So many great exhibits here! Possibly the best museum in DC that features all aspects of American history such as the military past and present, show business, entertainment, and just so much more.
Loved this place. The shops were pretty great! This is a great museum. I loved the transportation exhibit.

The Wonder exhibit was awesome.
The Wonder exhibit is fantastic: a collection of full-room installations in a variety of media, including preserved insects! Must be seen to be believed.
Free museum. Great exhibits. But usually a little crowded. With long lines to rest rooms.
Try to go early. It gets pretty packed in the afternoon. Great exhibits. My faves were Exploring the Planets, Amelia Earhart, and the one w/ the ISS.
Military, including retirees, may get tickets to the permanent exhibit (for entire family) any time by visiting the information desk even if all tickets have been distributed for the day.
Make sure to check out the children's art exhibit where children explain their thoughts & feelings of the Holocaust on tiles hanging on a wall. You could spend hours trying to read them all!

The Cinema Effect exhibit was AWESOME! :) One of my faves of the Smithsonians on the Mall! Check it out! No need rush!

Take the tour so you can get the scoop on the history of this building. The exhibits are always fascinating, and the gift shop is a great place to get an unusual design-gift.

Great café and gift shop, as well as an interesting collection of exhibits on American Indian culture and history. I could spend hours here!
The exhibits are very informative. I loved the Kay WalkingStick exhibit and plan to return for other artists as they are displayed. Definitely try the different Native American foods at the café!

Some exhibits were better than others. The overall experience is worth the trip. Our history is on full display and worth the recognition it deserves.

Of all the exhibits, don't leave without checking out the East Building, which houses the modern collection. Great art around every corner. And the architecture itself is worth multiple Instagrams.
