At the top of tower 1 is the Rothko Room. Not to be missed. The Rothko estate donated over 1000 paintings to the NGA. Must be the biggest collection in the world.

Best art gallery in DC, it's just shame some of the finest paintings in collection can't be photographed (for us from the other side of ocean whose memory of it will unavoidable fade with time).

Designed by Philip Johnson in 1963, this petite gallery is as captivating as the Impressionist and Modernist works it contains (paintings by Cézann, and Braque, plus sculptures by Calder and Rodin).
Nice size and not crowded. Building really nicely designed to show off the paintings and especially the sculptures outdoors.
Bring a book and spend some time enjoying the courtyard after you’ve explored the collection.

Friday night summer concerts are a blast. Free, on the waterfront and just plain beautiful views make this a must destination during the DC summer months.
Free concerts every Friday May 4th-Sept 14, 6:30 to 8:30pm. Food/drink available for purchase or bring a picnic. Best way to start the weekend!
Great space, loud fun music and a really cool painting on the wall. Crepe was quick too, didnt realize they had more than crepes though! Definitely will stop in again.
