      HK Diner 荷李活October 11, 2012
      Chinese
      • Chinatown, United Kingdom

Atrocious service. Got a lashing by manager cos I criticised the food - I was raised in HK and a food/travel journo. No longer welcome there I was told. Food, aforementioned, was bad.

      BBQ
      • Soho, United Kingdom

The recently-selected best street food cart in stationary form. Go with lunch menus in more tranquil settings, order platters with BBQ and a side. Bone marrow mash is spectacular. Brew their own beer.

      Peruvian
      • London, United Kingdom

Leading the charge of the Peruvian cuisine revolution in London, a tad pricey but certainly worth the palate trip. Ceviche is a must, best with sea bass; offal fest if you like. Try the corn cake.

      Vietnamese
      • Soho, United Kingdom

Vietnamese food brought to the realms of finer dining – and nothing short of sublime. Beautifully executed bowls of pho, plus small sharing dishes. Oh, and best cha gio pork spring rolls in Soho.

Mongolian Grill Hot PotJuly 21, 2012
      Mongolian
      • Clapham, United Kingdom

Tucked into a converted pub, scoring massive exotic points with its Mongolian-style barbecue and hotpot. Less merited for quality of food than the buffet abundance – worthy hearty neighbourhood feed.

      Ice Cream
      • London, United Kingdom

Oh gelato. Hidden unsuspectingly in 'the street behind Great Windmill' is the ice cream parlour, sister to Bocca di Lupo opposite. Delicious sweet stuff, flavoursome in generous, creamy proportions.

      TonkotsuJuly 19, 2012
      Ramen
      • Soho, United Kingdom

Probably the best bowl of ramen I've had in London – though still room for improvement. The signature tonkotsu is what it should be: creamy, subtly meaty, topped with succulent pork and oozy egg.

      • Soho, United Kingdom

Bit of a no brainer this: the aviary temptress is always luring in passers-by, diners with spare stomach space and hardcore fans. Red velvet cakes, I swear on my sweet palates, some of the best.

      Burgers
      • Marylebone, United Kingdom

Pretty damn good burger – shame about the queue, but it's an indication of its popularity. Relatively small menu but spot on, with classics like fried pickles. Stellar cocktail menu.

      Indian
      • Covent Garden, United Kingdom

As authentic as it gets, with emphasis on Indian street food. Heavenly starters and desserts aside, Masala Zone dishes out their curries in giant platters or thalis, just like in India.

Ah, Chilango – no shortage of accolades but best to tell it serves up the best burrito in London by tucking into one yourself. Vibrant decor unique to each store, large selection of toppings.

Big warm bowls of pho to warm up all mankind – or Pho's patrons, anyway. Consistently some of the best pho in London, plus array of appetisers and stir-fry dishes. Try the summer roll.

Unsuspecting Yalla Yalla tucked into the shady dark alley, but boasts so amazing Lebanese food. Best plan of attack: bring friends and order multiple sharing mezze platters.
