Looking for a taste of the Bay Area's Gordo Taqueria in New York (down to having the exact same chairs)? Dos Toros learned from the best. $1 bag of chips is a steal.
Avoid coming on Saturdays--service is ridiculously slow, and even slower when they misplace your pants.
Most of the space is shut down as they prep for a new installation. Can't walk the ramps at all. Don't bother coming until they're done on February 4, 2011.
Get ready to wait. Or stay home so the line moves faster for me!
Only 24-hour spot in town. Chocolate old fashion and powdered jelly donuts are best with a side of lotto scratchers.
Try to snag the comfy leather armchair to the right and around the corner from the front door. And don't miss the food--grilled corned beef & gruyere with a side of fries and a plate of pickles.
An Artichoke location and a pho place open across the street from each other in the same week? This block is looking up! Get the combo pho--delicious broth and meatballs. A decent deal at $8.
1 1/2 pounds of Korean buffet AND a beer for $12.67. Yes--twelve sixty seven! Also check out the Morgan Library around the corner--free admission Fridays 7-9pm. It's an affordable city after all!
great during the warm months. communal outdoor picnic tables fill up quickly on nice afternoons. dancing upstairs can be fun, too, though dc9 is a more consistently fun bet.
weekend brunch ($9 bottomless mimosas) is hard to beat. but it gets way crowded sometimes, so also check out brunch at urbana in dupont ($11 bottomless bellinis).
don't hesitate to get up on the speakers, swing from the ceiling rafters, and dance your tail off.
best tacos in the area. two corn tortillas filled with tons of meat and onion and cilantro. carnitas and al pastor are great. don't miss the salsa bar.
Jalapeno poppers and curly fries with extra butter milk (a.k.a., ranch) sauce. Do they still have tacos? If so, those are surprisingly good, too. Please come to the northeast Jack in the Crack!!
A hot link and a chicken apple, please, maybe a bag of salt and vinegar chips, and lots of spicy Russian mustard and sauerkraut. Thanks for staying open super late, too.
If you've never been to Gordo... well, we just can't be friends.
best place downtown for lunch. always packed. anything is good. turkey with russian, chicken breast, and egg salad are my personal favorites. iced tea to drink. killer.
