      Pub
      • St Ives, United Kingdom

Very, very old pub (14th century), with posh nosh upstairs and a fair selection of cheaper options in the basement bar. Not a bad place.

Impressive. But you'll get most out of it if you (a) have kids and (b) know lots about plants already.

      Train Station
      • St Austell, United Kingdom

I don't normally check in at train stations, but this one has the most 1980's style cafe I've ever been to. Cheap tea and coffee, and service with a smile, though.

If you only do one thing here, head up to the top-floor cafe. Even better than the view from the Tate Modern.

      Seafood
      • St Ives, United Kingdom

The exceptional interior looks like the glorious afterlife of a salty old sea dog, with nauticalia hanging from every beam and photos of old St Ives holding up the walls. Food OK if pricey.

A little bit so-so for the entrance price. Very small, with limited information. Still, it's pretty much mandatory if you're in St Ives.

      Bar
      • St Ives, United Kingdom

Reasonable bar, with limited range of cocktails. Good vibe if you get one of the cosy seats to the side of the bar - not so nice if you're stuck on one of the lower tables.

      Seafood
      • Hayle, United Kingdom

On the tourist trap seafront, and looks pretty average at first. However, the food turns out to be pretty decent, with an unusual mix of trad seafood with a Thai twist.

If you're in Cornwall, this is a must see. The tide covered the causeway while we were inside, so we took an unexpected boat trip back to the mainland. Oh, and do the gardens. Beautiful.

Absolutely top-notch perfect. Something like ten real ales on tap, all locally sourced. Old-school record player, outdoor toilets and an ancient chap playing the piano (very well). Highly recommended.
