1. Zilker Park
GOOD: Check out the largest of Austin's downtown parks. This is a community gathering space like no other in the city and besides, what's not good about a park?
2. Covert Park at Mt. Bonnell
HISTORY: It's said that if a couple climbs the 100 stairs to the top of Mount Bonnell once, they fall in love; twice, they'll become engaged; and after three times, it's inevitable they'll get married.
3. Texas State Capitol
Visit Austin: It's where the politicos are shaking in Texas, well, at least for 90 days every other year. And the dome is 6 ft higher than the U.S. Capitol!
4. Barton Springs Pool
HISTORY: Three acres in size, the pool is fed from under ground springs and is on average 68 degrees year round. Over the years it has drawn people from all walks of life.
5. Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge
Visit Austin: Austin is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. More than 1.5 million bats fly out near dusk from the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. Best viewing dates: April-Oct.
6. Bullock Texas State History Museum
Austin American-Statesman: 'The Story of Texas' museum offers exhibits, theaters, films and interactive computer displays. The museum, which opened in 2001, also has Austin's only IMAX theater.

8. Stubb's Bar-B-Q
Big Boi: The most famous for you SXSW-ers. Personally, I like the view from the stage.
9. The Continental Club
Visit Austin: The Granddaddy of all local music venues, the Continental Club has enjoyed a coast-to-coast reputation as the premiere club for live music in Austin since 1957.
10. La Zona Rosa
STA Travel U.S.: This club has no age limits and some very talented musical groups, such as the Black Eyed Peas, have taken the stage.

Jaysyn Longoria: Top notch staff here. These guys know their stuff so don't hesitate to ask any questions. Hands down this is Austins best record shop.
