When heading northbound to London on SWT: Join the train near the ladies toilets for quick access to the tunnel at Clapham Junction.
If you fly with BA always remember to look for the shuttle train to the north terminal, as they depart from there.
Nice view of Cathedral n Castle about 100ft downhil from station. Always sit on left going south, right going north for the best views.
Wait in the middle of the platform. Short trains are liable to stop almost anywhere along the platform.

The area takes its name from the church of St.Mary at the Bourne (a variation of Tyburn, a local river). The 18th century Marylebone Gardens were famous for bear-baiting, prize-fighting and duelling.
the small shop on station place sells oyster cards, better than waiting in the queue for the ticket office
‘Paddington Bear’ was written by Michael Bond in 1958. His bear arrived here somehow from ‘deepest, darkest Peru’ and was named after the station. You can find a statue of him near the escalators.

The bagel place inside the station is tasty and has bottomless coffee.
48hr parking (Fri morn to Sat night), right next to entrance, only £13. Pretty good.
If you're trying to get a west bound train from Platform 3 during evening rush hour, don't try and get on via the first two doors as everyone else does and it gets too crowded. Move down the train.
There is a side entrance to station from platform. No need to climb the stairs for exit.

Check the departures screen for your favourite destinations, note the number next to them and walk to the corresponding numbered platform. Your train should arrive there. Eventually.
Trains usually run to Waterloo every half an hour at 23 and 53 minutes past the hour.
Take the train to Euston, pay with Oyster card, reach destination in 20 minutes

The ticket office is open Mon-Sat 5:10-23:00, Sun 7:00-22:55 except Bank Holidays. Self-service machines available at other times.
If you travel lots but not daily - look at carnet tickets - c£70 for 10 singles which you can use any time for 3 months - just write date - no more queueing!
If you are coming from the airport get your ticket from Luton ticket desk in order to avoid queues at station
Despite the doom-laden warning posters, banners and stickers, the escalators are a really good way to get from platform to platform. Give them a go!
If you are going to Manchester or Bolton, plan an extra 10 minutes for time to use the ticket machine at the entrance to Platform 4 as there may be a queue.
Be aware that the station (misleadingly) isn't in the centre of MK. It's a good 10-20 minute walk to the main shopping area

It's faster to book your tickets in advance online and collect from the ticket machines. Especially during school holidays when the queues can often overflow out of the station.
New Costa Coffee just opened outside front of station. Usual Costa fare, but much better than the Upper Crust stuff on offer inside the station!
Have a look at the sign as you come out. One part is pointing up the track and proudly states, "Upcountry"

If completing a circuit on the City bus, prepare to pay £1.00 fare. Walking would be faster and more comfortable.
Catch the Metroshuttle bus numbers 1 and 3 from outside the main station entrance for free travel around the city centre.
Starbucks on the footbridge is far less busy than the one in the main staition - I've spent way too much there

The cash machines in the station charge £1.75. If you go up the escalator & through the foodcourt, there's a free cash machine on the left
Two good pubs close by - Brunswick (out station turn right, 5 min walk) and Alexandra Hotel. Both worth a visit.
If there's a big queue at the barrier, check the wider one because for some reason people often ignore it!
I recommend the little tea shop over the road called theArtOrganisation.co.uk. council owned, so not exactly slick compared to Starbucks...but Way friendlier! A lovely pot of jasmine tea!
Don't park directly outside, walk with the station to your left to the furthest car park and pay half the rate!
If arriving in the area after (approx) 7pm, then the local public transport is very sparse. Taxi's may be the only option.
The only bin is outside in the smoking area of the pumpkin cafe.
The Great Western Pub, close to station has good atmosphere and good selection of beers.

The main entrance to Waterloo Station is the Victory Arch, a memorial to employees of the London and South Western Railway staff killed in the First World War.
Arrive leaving plenty of time to purchase your ticket or risk missing your train due to only one hatch being open. The very friendly ticket machine saves the day!

Great proper Italian restaurant for all your pizza needs. Friendly staff and occasionally a band playing upstairs. Sit there if you can.
After 6-7pm the barriers are lifted, so tickets won't be checked at the station. But occaisionally inspectors will be on the train instead

Pick a spot on the south side of Sunkisses for views of the gay beach (Fondaco Parrino) just to the south. Great if you didn't bring an umbrella (Fondaco has none for rental).

Best sock selection ever! And they are very good quality. I have many pairs that are several years old and no holes or loss of elasticity.
Best historical attraction in London. Never get tired of visiting this wonderful place. Definitely tag along for one of the guided tours.

Although there are 3 windows, there's never more than 1 worker. Anytime of day, expect a long, dreary wait.
I've never had to queue for more than 5 minutes at the coatcheck.. The bar is the nightmare! Have been several times when they've literally ran out of everything .. tonic, bottled water. Fix this!

The Chicken Cordon Bleu is amazing! Great oysters, too. Warm space with a fantastic atmosphere & friendly staff.
Excellent food. Menu seems simple but each dish is delicious. Oysters & mussels great, spaghetti w/clams fantastic, as was the risotto del mare and house wine. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel. Great location. And good value for the money.. But worst Wi-Fi experience I have ever had. Rarely works in the room and slow in the lobby.
