The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.
Really gorgeous palace and full of power in the building structures
Be prepared for the masses...
Find some less touristy spots and take amazing photos. ✌🏻️
It's "must" when you are in Beijing, won't be disappointed
I was extremely disappointed. This was my third time here. It was so crowded that everything was blocked off and you were only allowed to peer inside. Make sure you come early to beat the crowds.
Home of emperors for almost 500 years.
Amazing! Need passport to purchase the ticket.
Wear comfy shoes it will be a very long walk.
Have fun taking pictures. If you want perfect ones, buy a book. There are a lot of details to notice along the way.
Awesome place to walk through 700 years of Chinese history
Crowded all the time and this includes the cold winter months!
My tip goes for the families with kids. The forbidden city is not exactly stroller friendly but it is doable with a lightweight stroller. Buy tickets in advance and bring snacks for your little ones.
If you've a Chinese pal,ask him to book the ticket online (he'll need to pay in advance with kinda Chinese PayPal).Collect your ticket with your passport at offices 31-32 and skip the first long queue
A true treasure, must see. Get and audio tour or a guide to get the most out of it. Beautiful and historic. Don't forget to find The Tree of Love for a great photo opp.
We had the honored to be have dinner at the people's congress, wonderful experience
Closed on Mondays
Little crazy trying to get in, and a little confusing to get around inside
A must see in China. Best to arrive at 8am for tickets. Opens from 8:30, gets very busy after 10am. Very crowded usually.
Amazing site! Beautiful and huge!
Amazing but crowded. A major venue for every firstimers in beijing
There are 9999.5 rooms. Excellent architecture. Get a good shoes and a tour guide before you walk in
After you finish, take a right and walk to the end of the street. Pay a rickshaw 30 yuan to drive you to the front (Tiananmen Square) so that you can take the subway. Impossible to get a cab after
The automatic audio guides are really cool. They start playing once you hit a specific location. Highly recommended
Massive complex, you'll need a guide book, audio guide or tour guide to make the most of your time here. Head out the north exit to the park afterwards.
Summer is not the best season for this......
Would be better to visit this place during winter days. This place is huge but worth the trip. If you love traditional chinese architecture, make sure you visit this place.
Digital scans of passports were accepted when I bought my tickets
A must seen place in Beijing- now way to forget it - impressive historical palace with thousands of years traditions
A must to do in Beijing. Even the sync of audio guide is not perfect, still worths to buy for around 40 yuan. Btw, you can't visit all rooms, saloons etc.. recommended.
Expect huge crowds during weekends, however everything runs smooth. Getting a ticket will take you arround half an hour (60 rmb/ person). During hot season getting some shadow might be a problem...
Fantastic architecture. 60 rnb the ticket. Very difficult to get out of this place, they make you walk like 3 km extra, I don't understand why
One of the most famous historical places in the world, a must see when in Beijing.
Before go there read something about forbidden city otherwise it's not interesting
So beautiful. Give yourself enough time. Lots of people. Very crowded.
Very big palace
Huge place and so many people but everything runs very smoothly. Explore the side alleyways towards the north end to get some peace in this otherwise bustling area.
nothing special... boring but still a must see as Beijing doesnt offer many attractions
If you decide on getting an automatic electronic tour guide, just get one and then relay everything you heard with your friends... I think that's better
It's amazing how expansive it is. On crowded days it's hard to see into the buildings. The garden at the end is the best part.
Go as early as you can and take your time to explore the venue. It is magnificent! Must see!
Nice sightseeing spot but only on weekdays and make sure the taxi drops you at the entrance.
No Photo with the Red Army
Spare at least 2 hours here even if you have limited time in Beijing since this place is one of the most significant historical sites in the world. Audio guide is helpful to know historical details.
Historic Site in Beijing
Not too many tourists in winter. ¥40 ticket.
Everyone that comes to Beijing absolutely should visit here, u can spend hours here n enjoy great architecture
The biggest ensemble of Ming-Qing architecture. There are several days worth of things to see... if you're only here for some hours see the garden and the Empress Dowager's House!
