Changed my negative impression of Shanghainese cuisine. Smoked fish alone is worth going here for. Beautiful setting and great for a celebration.

Must order: xunyu (Shanghai smoked fish), sautéed fresh river shrimp, huangyu (deep fried yellow fish w seaweed), and banmian. If you're brave, the braised sea cucumber in sweet sauce is excellent.

Fu 1039’s smoked fish is outstanding. The chocolate-y brown fish is served warm in generous meaty chunks with few to no bones, and the fish is served dry, not in a sopping sauce Read more

Very traditional Shanhainese place in an old Mansion in the French Concession. The honey mustard prawns and honey glazed beef are my two recommendations. Wine list is lacking though.
