As the most mainstream of do-it-yourself music venues, 285 Kent has a big following of underground music lovers.

Hot as balls in any weather, coat check for about 12 coats and then you're stuck holding it all night, and overall kind of disorganized. I'm getting too old for this shit.

Bring earplugs. This space CANNOT accommodate this soundsystem.

Time travel back to an underground smoky rock club from days of yore. See a great band here before they blow up. If you don't mind a little push and shove and smoke...this is the place for you.

This place is exactly what you expect it to be -- dark, crowded, full of young kids and cigarette smoke. It's a state of mind.

For a slightly more upscale bathroom experience, try IndieScreen down the street (also 285 Kent).

You know it's super hip and the music will be great since it's run by the now defunct Altered Zones crew. A great spot for up and coming artists, but be prepared to smell like an ashtray.

An uber-hip spot for emerging artists and indie favorites, right next door to Glasslands. Just make sure you can stand the smell of smoke.

If you are over the age of 30 and going to an 18-plus show, just stay home. Oh - and gross! Smoking inside is so 2000. Cool space though.

It's kind of like a big hall, but without the Terminal 5 feel. Instead, it's more like an impromptu music venue - but with great art work and AC.
