Get there a little early and settle in. My favorite spot is on the floor toward the back because it sounds the best. Just grab a beer, a cupcake, and enjoy! – Civil Twilight
Quite possibly the best venue in the world, go see a show here on a Sunday night. Sometimes the bands are amazing and the crowd isn't overwhelming.
Founded by Dody DiSanto and Jon Bowers, the 9:30 Club was the home for alternative music in D.C. during the early 1980s and was a regular stopping point for bands touring the east coast.
This is the best place to see a concert in DC, period. Wear comfortable shoes -- standing room only!

Go to a show with a good opener, and get there in time to hold down the bar stools on the balcony above the VIP area and within arm's reach of the bar. Ideal seated viewing spot.
Half odd drinks in basement bar after shows
see the opening band. drink a dogfish head raison d'etre
After the show, the bar downstairs stays open. Good place to wait out the crowd. If only there was a tunnel from there to Ben's...
There's not a bad sightline here, but we enjoy watching concerts from the upstairs balcony. Show up early to get one of these sought-after spots.
Don't wash your hands. The soap smells awful.

Independent local venue brings in top acts. Decent views all around, but best views go fast. Don't worry about food if you're in a rush: they have great food at good prices. This is why I moved to DC.
GREAT VENUE. They get A+ bands to come to a very small, personal venue.
Grab a spot on the balcony early- You'll have room to move AND be able to see.
There's no bad spot to hear shows at 9:30 Club. Just be sure to buy tickets directly from 9:30 - counterfeit operations abound on Craigslist.
Try the cupcakes! They're from Buzz Bakery!
Don't come hungry.
Awesome and intimate concert venue. www.ayed.com.tr
This place is flanneltastic
They changed their Backbar policy and claim it's never been a separate line. Except every other concert we've been to HAS been a separate line. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
Best seat in the house: along the railing in the balcony towards the center. Best place to eat nearby: Ben's Chili Bowl (try the 1/2 smoke all the way w/ cheese fries to share). - Richard On of O.A.R.

Best. Venue. Ever.
Bring a couple dollar bills if you plan on sitting in line outside during summer shows. There is a nice guy who will stroll down the sidewalk with a cart filled with bottles of water for a buck.
Check a show out, crawl in a bag, and head to Ben's Chili Bowl after the show.
Get there early, hit the coffee bar upstairs and try one of the chocolate cupcakes ($3). Your mouth will thank you afterward.
