From the mysterious remains of the pre-Hispanic towns right in the city’s heart you can go to the colonial era with its endless temples and beautiful houses of red volcanic rock. A perfect stroll!

Currency exchange: its worth the walk to the gates A on the outside part. The prices are better! Up to 20 to 40 pesos more per dollar. I recommend Cie Bank. The most safe and serious of all.

Instead of buying coffee in Starbucks, you should try buying it in the place where Mexicana used to be. It's a really good coffee and you would be supporting them.

Please pardon the appearance. Our government is still figuring out how to have a world class arrival area (But do not be fooled: our country is much more beautiful than this terminal 1).

After security the cheapest place for quick snacks food and water is actually the 7-11! Almost half of what the other little shops charge. Keep your eyes peeled though it's easy to miss.

Metro is outside Puerto 1 in Terminal 1. Extremely cheap, quick & safe transport to anywhere in the city. You can take Aerotrain / Bus from Terminal 2 (Bus outside Peurto 4). Few signs for Metro.

International services moved quickly, but you should print out information about where you want to go next -- I couldn't get wifi to work. Baggage claim took forever where it was VERY warm at midnight

Check for your inmigration card at least a day before you leave, because if your flight is very early in the morning the inmigration office opens untill 7am work days, 8am weekends.

Keep the immigration form they give you when you fly in! You will spend an hour paying a 300 peso fine if you lose it, and since they only ask for it when you are boarding, you may miss your flight.

Huge airport. Numerous place to plug in your computer/smartphone. One more thing: you can find some free wifi connections (international and national departures).

Be prepared for long lines at check-in if you don't have preferred status, but the security lines are generally very fast. The lounges are also very good.

All the baggage of travelers from South and Central America is thoroughly inspected by trained anti-drug dogs. Immigration could be fast but waiting for the baggage could take around one hour.

The Metro is the most convenient mode of public transport to and from the airport. Alight at Terminal Aérea on Line 5 (yellow line). The station is 100m away from Terminal 1.

Minus the dirty bathroom, this was one of the better airport experiences I've had.. people moved through baggage claim and immigrations fast enough and the security is much friendlier then in the USA.

If you want to switch between terminals, use the Aerotren, a train between terminals. Consider 6 minutes for the ride, max waiting time is 12 minutes.

Take the metro in Terminal 1 at the end of Gate 1. From Terminal 2, take the free SkyTrain to Terminal 1. It's only 5 pesos to get to the city center on the metro.
