There is a nice little lounge upstairs with comfy chairs, a nice view if the airfield and, most importantly, power plugs. The plugs are located in the lower level of the lounge by the windows.
At the center of the concourse between concourse A and B go upstairs (elevator or stairs) to discover a gem. A huge room with couches, tables, chairs, multiple wall outlets and the best view.
Great find: need to use a credit card for a cab from the airport to a hotel? Call Bill the Cabbie at 505-328-5566. $20 minimum which covers the fare and tip to most hotels. And, his cab is clean.
Nice airport. Great decor. Standard places to eat. What is so different about this airport is the incredible courteous and cheerful TSA officers, not common at all. Good example for other airports.
Burma Comida, just after coming thru security, has fantastic "make it how u want it" sandwiches...choose the bead, the type of meats, toppings and sauces u want. BIG, too...enough for 2.
Weight restrictions happen often in the summer due to field elevation and surrounding terrain. Be patient and kind to the customer service folks if this happens to your flight...they don't like being
Shortest and most efficient TSA lines in human history, free wi-fi throughout the airport, and lots of post-security food/drink/shop options... The airport may be old, but its very accommodating!
Such a well organised airport. I agree the most efficient security check in the US. When you land here you know you are not just anywhere. Pueblo revival style. Love the art work.
Quite possibly the easiest "get in, get done" major airport in the USA. Very "New Mexico" feel, extremely close parking, fast TSA lines, friendly staff, and only 15 minutes from downtown!
Should time permit park in the Aircraft Viewing Area just east of the airport and watch the planes come n go. Shameless fun, plus, if you have children, they may get a kick out of it.
Mark F. says Santa Fe is the only thing to do in the area. Taos, Sandia Peak, and Sandia Crest are pretty amazing, however. If you ski/snowboard, it's oftentimes better than California!
I travel a great deal and out of the airports I frequent ABQ has the most efficient TSA lines. This airport also offers free WiFi which is great on those longer layovers.
Easy in & out little airport one terminal for all airlines. Quick shuttle to car rentals. Fill up before u return or they will charge $93.00 for 1/2 tank of gas . Nearest gas station is on Gibson.
Very small airport but great trinkets in the gift store. I love various cultures and ethnicities so thought it was pretty interesting to see such cool Native American figurines.
If you're going to Santa Fe, then make a reservation for a massage and private bath at Ten Thousand Waves Spa. Very affordable and if you're lucky you cam hot tub while it's snowing.
My fave airport bc: fastest and nicest TSA ever, free wifi, good coffee, food court has green chile stew, and it's not too huge.
Bathrooms by Gate A1 is super clean and fresh smelling. For early flight departures it was surprising to see so many food venues open. This was very helpful.
Priority Access is a sham here! I could've been 20 people ahead if I was in the regular line! If the PA line is the same length as the others you'll reap no benefits
Fun little airport...remember the rental car area is not connected to the airport. If you have time, eat at Los Cuates, great food! Fast security lines.
Any of the chaplains at the Albuquerque International Sunport are ready to help people with any spiritual needs, including contacting local spiritual leaders or joining them in the Meditation Room.
Remember. if the plane explodes in a giant fireball and everybody dies. (Except for you) You know why? It's "Cause You had you had your tray table up, and your seat back in the full upright position"
So easy to go in and out of Sunport. Cheap gas within a few blocks of the airport, and the folks at Enterprise RAC are the nicest. Running late? They will drive you to the terminal?
Bring your meal up to the 2nd floor observation deck to get away from the noise and enjoy the view while u relax.
The people who think this is the nicest mid sized airport in US have never been to West Palm Beach. Shorter lines, cleaner, and a putting green in terminal.
IF you order tacos at La Hacienda, add salsa or sour cream. They are boring. Wish I had gotten nachos, or maybe an enchilada - the tacos are boring and disappointing for NM. :(
Friendly and efficient service all around. Try the green chicken chile soup at terminal A-B... it lives up to its famous reputation!
If you want to get a cab which takes credit card, call Bob - 505-440-8765. Not all of them accept credit cards, and Bob was very helpful!
If you look past the outdated furniture and decor you can appreciate the Sunport for it's awesome food, small size, and ease of dealing with the TSA! :)
Nice little airport. Easy in an easy out. If you need a cab, make sure you check out the shuttle van first. Ask at the information booth.
We actually like Windows 98 American Southwest theme here, very thorough. More than that - the quantity of outlets is amazing! Power Up!
Today's public service announcement: if you in boarding group 4 you don't need to be in line or in close proximity to the line while they are boarding group 2. Thank you.
Don't sit on the chairs. Not only are they old but they stink too. The whole airport smells like urine. But the best airport to get in and out of.
This is a great airport that has a cool, uniquely New Mexico feel. Free wifi and comfy seats plus good eats make it a good stop.
Small airport...very small airport. Security lines are generally very short and straightforward. Get here at least 1 hr before departure.
Check out the Observation Deck between A gate & B gate wings. Big windows comfortable seats & great view of the airfield.
This has to be the most redic security line ive ever been thru. Whuts with the transporter pod?In this small town, really? Never even been thru that in nyc.Agree with decor comment. STep up ur air port
It's called "Sunport" for a reason: happiness greets you as you enjoy short lines, lots of charm, and lots of character.
Hit up Black Mesa Coffee next to A8. The Caramel Latte is delicious and all the staff are super friendly!
One of the fastest airports in the USA. Love that you can arrive 30 minutes before a flight and still make it.
Definitely not a model of efficiency in the morning. Suggest not being on the first flight out. Security is long and they can't seem to make up their minds as to which scanner to use.
Quiet place to wait for a flight. The elevator is a little slow, but worth the wait if you have a lot of luggage.
ABQ Police Office at the security checkpoint for gates B makes me feel safe when he's spending his shift with his face down eating Chinese Food. I would like this Tip if you think it's a fail
Black Mesa Coffee Company serves good hot breakfast, but it'll cost you a pretty penny! Located Adjacent to gate A9
If you travel with a child the TSA is so nice and will let you go through the employee line and help you maneuver you to the gate!
The breakfast burritos at La Hacienda Express are awesome. But get here one minute after 10:30 and you're out of luck.
Lots of food options, spacious gate areas. To me, it looks like an airport I'd like to travel through more often!
Seats haven't changed since at least the 70s. Though they did add tables with power outlets for those that need a charge.
Love this airport! Free wifi, decent food, short lines, easy to get around, beautiful New Mexico aesthetic.
Before your next flight, grab a cup of green chili chicken stew and a green chili roll from Black Mesa Coffee, next to A9!
Never flying US Airways again. Purchased a ticket 2 days ago online for a last minute death in the family & now they say my connecting flight is overbooked? Nice of them... AFTER taking my money!
