One of must-see things in S-F. This prison is famous because of several things: 1. It is museum now. 2. No one successfully escaped from it. 3. Al Capone was sitting there :)

Pier 33 On The Embarcadero (Bay St.)
"Incredible day, stunning views! Super informative audio tour and we got to meet Bill Baker, an ex inmate. Even on a hot day you should take a jacket for the island, it gets really chilly."
"Passengers queue up early but there is a lot of room and seats on boat. Coming off the island is a little trickier since you return on your own schedule but again everyone got on w/out an issue."
Pier 43 1/2
"Located at Pier 43 East at the foot of Polk Street. National Register of Historical Places: Sailing vessel BALCLUTHA has been restored to a close approximation of her original appearance."
Golden Gate National Recreation Area (San Francisco Bay)
"You have to take the audio tour. It is amazingly thrilling to walk through the cellblock and listen to the stories. And the Merchandising is also really good #awesome"
Alcatraz Cell House
"Go on the night tour, well worth it even for the sunset view of the city."
