Huge record store right on Sunset. Always has the newest and most hard to find selection. Never disappointed with the shopping/looking/listening experience. -Alex Reznik, Top Chef
The stores in San Francisco and Hollywood have a modest selection of new and used video-games for current generation systems. This store is a playable venue in the music game, Guitar Hero: World Tour.
Grab a basket and make sure you are not on lunch because you will be here for awhile shopping. - Venus D-Lite, RuPaul's Drag Race
Mikel Jollett of Airborne Toxic Event says it best: "It's like the New York Yankees of record stores. Say what you want, it's just going to win."
Get lost in the music @amoebarecords. Go @metrolosangeles 2 Hollywood/Vine
This place has the coolest music in the world – now is not the time to add to your disco collection. #DontBlowIt
Given all the music created in Los Angeles, it’s mind-boggling that there’s still only one place you really need to go to buy tunes in this town. This Mecca of music occupies an entire city block.
You can get everything you need - records, movies, posters, everything! Always try the used section first. People trade in the BEST (and new) stuff!
Arguably the best nostalgia shop in Los Angeles. You can buy "CDs" here! Additionally, live acts cruise through and play short, free sets.
Check your bags at the door before you shop.
I grew up in record stores like this one. I buy most of my music online these days, but there’s always a rare find in the bins or a cool music show to catch. - Darryl Stephens, DTLA - The Series
Go to the used section first. You might end up getting the cd you wanted way cheaper.
make sure to take tome to comb thru the $1 vinyl. some awesome finds
Debatably a greatest record store in the world. At least the best one in the USA. Always good for instores and bargains.
the used music can come from you. they buy as well as sell. helpful staff
The largest independent music store still has the cool and hip vibe that it had since it opened in the 90s. Ask anything about music to the staff, and you’ll get that CD you’re looking for.
Amoeba hosts free live shows every week. Check out Amoeba.com for schedule details.
See a free live show! (And if they are any good, get the cd).
For music lovers, Amoeba is not to be missed: it's the largest independent-music store in the world and also hosts regular in-store appearances by world-class artists and bands.
There's always a cheap vinyl bin - get away with a $5-10 shopping "spree!"
Check out the used CD/DVD section, then stroll over to the jazz section. This is one of my favorite places to shop in LA.
IMPOSSIBLE-TO-FIND LP's, DVD's, Laserdiscs, BluRay's, memorabilia, electronics and more are RIGHT HERE. New inventory added ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. One of THE BEST music stores in the world, hands down.
go to Amoeba Music Hollywood. Great jazz section.
Like concert posters? Burrow around in the bins for anything from Janis Joplin at The Whiskey Go Go to Eagles of Death Metal at The Mayan. Also the occasional and irreverent "Golden Girls" print.
best music store in city!
they have everything here
its like being inside of itunes!
BEST place in LA to find the rarest of the rare movies and music!
Great selection of new and old vinyl. Prices range depending on what you're looking for. The store also hosts in-store performances and has featured artists such as White Denim, Cut Copy and others.
Being an english import myself great to pick up some UK series & movies on DVD. You will need region 2 DVD player to play.
Great selection! I bought a bunch of good used CDs. And I had a very easy time finding parking which is always a huge plus in LA! :)
Voted #1 Music Store in the Daily Sundial's Best of CSUN 2012
I come buy my music here! There is also hard to find music here as well!
Great selection of music and if you want to get rid of old cd, movies etc its a good place to do so!
They consistently play horrible music over the PA as you shop. Always.
Check out the clearance rock section for sweet prices, I like picking up CDs with cool covers for a buck and trying my luck
Bring in old CD's, DVD's, Blu-Rays, LP's, etc. to trade in. Get store credit, use it to pay for your items, and you'll walk out not a penny poorer.
Always keep an eye out, never know who you'll run into :D
If you ever see an artist perform at our venue and you have to get the music right away... cruise down to Amoeba and get it. You'll love the place, they have everything.
One of my favorite places to be
Most authentic record store in the city! Only place to go to buy music.
