I didn't know much about Anchor Brewing but the tour fixed that very quickly. Highly recommended that you take the afternoon tour so you can enjoy the tasting, but make sure you book early.

Established in 1896, Anchor is the only brewery to still use the term steam beer. The tours are great-lots of info, history, and plenty to drink. You won't be sorry!

Pro tip: book a reservation for the brewery tour at least 2-3 months in advance. For $15, you get the tour and unlimited beer sampling at the end. Anchors up!

The only way to come in here is in a booked tour. Sadly, they don't have a taproom as other breweries, but they do have a new taproom/beer garden at The Yard at Mission Rock! It's lovely. :)

As far as brewery tours go, this is one of my favorite. Have to book several weeks in advance (and do a weekday) but hey a day off to be with beer is a day well spent.

Totally worth reserving ahead for a tour. If you're lucky you can sneak an extra person in by hanging out and waiting to see if someone doesn't show up.
