Welcome to Austin! They have done a decent job of implementing Austin's "weird" vibe into this airport. Some days you'll find live music right in the concourse. I've never seen that anywhere else!

Here for a few hours? Check out gate 1. It's downstairs at the east end of the terminal. It's quiet, full of seats, and has many outlets for you to recharge your devices!

Annie's will sell you a side if scrambled eggs, seasoned with delicious butter. Get some free salsa from them and have a tasty, carbless breakfast in the land if carbs that is airport breakfast.

If you have TSA PreCheck and are not checking bags this airport is a breeze to get in and out of. Great food options too. Also, the only USA airport I've come across with live music!

Best kept secret in the airport : Waterloo Ice House breakfast tacos are amazing - and not just "for airport food" I'd put these up against any in town. Oh yeah - they're made fresh to order!

Welcome to Austin! My favorites here at the airport are the live music stages, Salt Lick BBQ, and Amy's Ice Cream. Look to grab a seat in one of the power arm chair stations at various gates.

If you're flying SWA, AA, frontier or JetBlue your terminal won't have a Starbucks but it will have an awesome local coffee shop called Austin Java. Check it out! Maudie's is also amazing tex mex!

If you're as anti-Pepsi as I am, you're probably craving a Coca-Cola right about now. Head to Amy's Ice Cream across from Gate 12. They even have free refills! Also, they have Diet Dr. Pepper!

I didn't realize Salt Lick was the place to go for breakfast but those tacos are good! I got egg & pulled pork with some BBQ sauce. I wish I would have ordered 2!

Enjoy live music while eating some of the best BBQ from Salt Lick. If you have time, top it off with a delectable scoop from Amy's Ice Creams, renowned for their staff’s ice cream acrobatics. Read more

Finally! Austin has Pre at security. If you qualify, keep your shoes and belt on, leave everything inside your luggage--computers, too--and walk through the metal detector. Just like the old days.

Take the Airport Flyer (100) to downtown for $1.00 (free for UT student/faculty w/pass). Pick-up is on lower level next to taxis. It will drop you off at 4th and Trinity (Austin Convention Center).

Take 100 airport express $1 to downtown. Eat at my fave rest that is free of sxsw crowd: boiling pot (hands + mallet + crabs) & lucky puccia (food cart w/ cold beers & best italian sandwiches)

As an Austinite I love the city, but I wish this airport had more to offer. As a tourist city we should have a bigger airport with more diverse options and better facilities and parking lots.

Austin-Bergstrom has two runways, three helipads, and live music! That later is what makes this city cool and keeps Austin weird.

Get TSA Pre-Check & go to the center of the airport to get through security. One straight line-don't have to remove anything. I breezed through there in less than a minute. This was around 10-10:30 am.

Small, fast, effective and with a personality. Hard to fly to from most places around the world, might be worth arriving at DFW and driving down if no good connections are available.

Get Ur BBQ on! Go to salt lick! If You just want to only eat meat, ask for 3oz brisket $4 (not on menu). Ask for fattier cut for the most yummy BBQ brisket ever!

Take the toll road if you are going south. It hits right at the airport. It avoids all traffic through the heart of town and is worth the cost.

There are no working outlets by any chairs once you leave the secure area. If your phone dies, plan on sitting on the ground by baggage claim charging your phone like some homeless, jetsetting vagrant

Heading downtown and not renting a car? Skip the cab and pick-up the CapMetro bus for $1 to the right of the cab line. Takes about as long and is much cheaper than taxis or shuttles.

Keep in mind that there are three security checkpoints. The two that you normally see, and one off to the far right. Use that one if you're leaving from a higher numbered gate.

Note that there are no shuttles to the rental car area - you just have to trek past the pickup zones and cab lines to get to your rental area. Fun in 100+ degree heat.

Long flight home? Your best bet is The Salt Lick near gate 13 - not my favorite sauce but as good as airport food gets outside of Jet Blue's T5 in NYC. SXSW rules!
