Some support beams had to be installed to keep the building from falling.
Very low tide
Great day on the island
It's my favorite place to be when it's open. I spend almost every weekend there
IT'S A CASTLE! IN THE RIVER! Rumor has it you can kayak around here and enter the castle IF YOU ARE SNEAKY! If you make this happen, tell me!
Most of the time it's $35 per person for a 2.5 guided tour, with the ferry (that's right, one ferry) leaving at 12:30 from Beacon. Just a head's up, "self-guided" tours are only on 3rd Sundays.
Bannerman's Castle is a great slice of NYC history. Take a tour if you're looking for a good day trip out of the city. Hang out in Beacon afterward.
Impress others by calling it by the proper name: Pollepel Island (upon which Bannerman's Castle was built).
One of Hudson Valley's hidden gems. Make sure to have your smartphone or camera ready while taking a walking tour - you'll regret it if you don't!
Cheating check-ins from the train are for wankers. Take a tour! Bannermancastle.org
Get a Kayak from Hudson Valley Outfitters and see it from every angle
You have to share this island with friends especially in summer.
Amazing. All New Yorkers should come see this.
