People tend to check in during these times:
The stateliness of Carlo Maderno’s seventeenth century façade hints at the immensity of St. Peter’s Basilica inside, which today remains one of the largest churches in the world. Place Managed by the Rome's Tourism Dept. in collaboration with //Avanti Concept Agency
I think they have to do something for that queues...2 hours waiting time to get in is madness!
No need to good into the treasury!
It has a good vibe ❤❤
One of the best scenic views in the city and an incredible monument.
Magnificent view!!! Love this place!
Very impressive! Worth a visit. And dont forget to go up to the dome :)
One of my most favorite places in Roma! Breathtaking architecture and a real pleasure to look at, at day and night.
Walk walk walk
impressive, huge, dont go with short dresses, you have to cover
Very magnificent and beautiful place. You should definitely visit it while in Vatican/Rome.
Don't buy skip the line tickets to the Vatican museums (they sell those inside basilica) There's no line if you are there in the afternoon.
Do not get scared by the long long queues to the church, they move real fast. The steps to cupola are very suffocating and uncomfortable so think twice before going up. Definitely take the lift.
Wow this is huge!
Dont leave rome without seeing Vatican. Museum is a must see.
Huge huge church. Do see 'Pieta' (Mary holding Christ after crucification), one of the marvels created by Michelangelo. It is the first statue on the right after the entrance.
This is best please i heve been!
What a marvelous places... every sunday noon there's the Angelus Mass!!
Take the stairs near the altar to visit the Popes' - and some queens' - tombs.
If you have to visit only one church in Rome, visit this one ! Do not miss to climb to the dome for a panoramic view of Rome !
Huge!!! Take your time and enjoy every nook and cranny. It's well worth whatever wait you may have to endure. 😄🇮🇹
You need to go around the block to get in. Make sure you try the holy water
Arte arte arte..
Closed every wednesday till 12h!
Opens at 7am. Aim to get there before 9am to avoid the queue. Nice and peaceful. Otherwise the tour groups and cruise ship tours start arriving ~9am.
Absolutely stunning - the line moved quite quickly, so don't be turned off. Don't forget to cover up your shoulders & knees or you will be turned away at the door, which would be a shame!
Favorite place. Can stay here for hours!
Enjoy all and be quiet.
Little to say that hasn't already been said - but one cannot come to Rome and not visit. You'll not be disappointed.
Always keep looking up
You have to go up to viewpoint of the dome!
Come early so you can avoid large queues.
Beautiful. Stunning architecture. Just don't think of the money being kept in here and not making it to the rest of the Catholic church around the world...
A must see. Don't get fooled by the people selling tickets to skip the queue it's not worth it cause the line goes fast and the Basilica entry is free!
The most admirable church to check out and learn about the history of the Vatican City!
Great Architecture with great historical background.
Don't be fooled by tour guides as you enter the square. They want you to pay extra for their tour. One told me the wait for the Basilica is 1 hour and 45 minutes. I only had to wait 30 to get inside
A must visit to their dome & climb at the top to see the panaromic view of city of Rome! 🇮🇹 You may get claustrophobia & tired climbing the narrow stairs but it is totally worth it! #RomeHighlights
So... i recommend to spend a 20 euro ticket to visit it and skip all queue (ask in information). Guide was great.
Most impressive place I've ever been in my life. I'm not even religious. Free entrance, the line seems long but quite fast.
Can't take good portraits at the top of dome. There are too many fence bars.
It's about a two hour wait to get in, so bring a friend or you will be bored out of your mind. There's no real order to the line, make sure you go to the top of the dome.
It's worth waiting for the entrance. At least in March, when we had to wait for 45min on a Thursday afternoon. Reading on Wikipedia about the architecture and context helps. :)
Sistine Chapel is located on Vatican museums which are not inside or on the side of St. Peter's Church; they are located at 10 minutes walking from there. Avoid paying the elevator, is senseless.
Go to the visitor information on the left of the piazza at 2.15pm Monday to Friday and join the free tour run by students of the Pontifical North American College. Very very very good.

This church is very impressive. Never seen any church this big! Free entrance. Have to stand in a 30min queue (average waiting time) though for luggage check. Worth it.
The view from the top👆
if you are not wearing the appropriate clothing, you will be seen in paper clothing in all your pictures. men and women. also. you can make confession in any language. climb the duomo.
