Frederick Law Olmsted commissioned a memorial to the union naval dead in 1865. The angel of the waters, from the gospel of Saint John, rises from the top -- a symbol of the healing power of nature.
Bridal parties getting their photos taken, outdoor fitness bootcamps and street performers all gather in one place – it’s one of our favorite places to people watch.
June-Watch baby snapping turtles (& mamas) swimming about searching for food. & Around noon, sunning on the rock outcropping along the northern end of the pond. But don't touch, they bite pretty hard.
Early morning is my favorite time here ~ not as crowded as afternoon. Don't forget to stop by the boathouse for a coffee!
