Good espresso, friendly staff, a nice space to relax in. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Oh, they also have cold brew and Kyoto style iced. Espresso to stay+cold brew to go=happy

Take a break from Manhattan's hustle-bustle at the Library in Birch Coffee, the Gershwin Hotel's quirky coffee shop. This lofty space is perfect for warming up to an old book while sipping coffee! Read more

Cold brew coffe is my new thing to get!! Especially on a warm and humid day in NYC. Staff is great, helping and fast, even in regards customers with VERY specific orders

The new age coffeeshop with their own roasted beans. These guys know their coffee brewing and all that latte art. They are a close second in the city after Stumptown. Yes, the queues are long but fast

Coffee is good, but this location has lost a lot of its charm since it moved to their new space. It's a lot more coffee shop and less cafe, with shorter hours and a smaller, less interesting space.

I love everything about this place!Try the grilled cheese, indulge yourself in a fine cup of coffee. The salads are pretty amazing ,as well. There is a hidden library upstairs. Birch is a true gem

A hidden gem amongst the retail giants of Manhattan, with lovely coffee but no WiFi (before 5pm). Chicken sandwich was pretty special, lots of flavour and good quality meat

Since Birch opened their first location in 2009, they have been dedicated to making a better Kyoto Cold Brew. They brew using their single origin beans for a rich, darker flavor Read more

Terrific coffee shop in the NoMad area to stop in for espresso drinks. One can get a good flat white here. The doughnut from dough is outstanding.

Check in regularly on Foursquare to unlock "double stamp days". You can grab a little reward card in the cup on the counter while in line. Free coffee after 10 stamps!

I read somewhere that they had outlet plugs but they don't. But it is understandable since they not want customers with their laptops sitting for prolonged periods. Can't go wrong with a dirty chai!

Tried to combine 2 loyalty cards and they wouldn't honor it. My co-worker did the same thing a week ago and did they did. Also, recently ordered a cold brew and it was poured 60% full. Won't be back.

A little crowded, but if you avoid the peak hours, try to score a seat in the little library, or at the bar for some people watching. Love the industrial feel of this place.

This new location is nowhere near as good as the last one (it looks a bit half-finished), but perhaps it'll get better in time. The cold brew is just as good as always.

The old birch was a lot better, the wifi code they give you only lasts an hour and they have an attitude if you try to ask for a second code...plus they don't even do pour overs...not impressed at all

Works great as a coffice (plenty of space) and the pastries are good. The Internet code they give you only works for 1 hour, though.

The baristas are super friendly, the arrangement of the shop encourages conversation. If you're there to work, head up the secret staircase around the side to the "library" when you can set up shop.

Don't sit in the hotel, as they are very insistent about non-guests occupying their lobby. Go through the door marked "H" and you'll find Birch Coffees cute little library.

Aside from blue bottle's New Orleans style, this is the most consistently amazing, rich iced coffee I've ever had. Get the largest size or you will be UNHAPPY later.

Free wifi is limited to 60 minutes via passcode. Not a great place if you're seeking something relatively quiet; the small space combined with poor acoustics makes it a bit rowdy.

Once I spilled a full ice coffee outside and when I came back to buy a new one, they replaced it for free. They also try to remember you and greet you by name

Get the Gorgonzola grilled cheese with a latte and take a seat upstairs in the library. Crowded on weekends and at the same time, alarmingly quiet. Oh and $$$

First timers get a muffin! Worth it to just try and relax upstairs in the library. Also, if the restroom is out, use the one in the hotel, just make 2 rights.

Their coffee is so much better than starbucks. Love their iced Americana and they not only use ecofriendly cups from greenware, but they also have stevia sweetener!

Trying to find a coffee place with wifi for a call and saw this one. Even though it says "WIFI", there is no WIFI here. I got a nervous answer "The WIFI opens at 5 PM". Wtf?

Take your coffee to "The Library" upstairs; coziest seating of any NYC cafe. You probably won't get a seat though. Very friendly baristas here.

pretty much the same as the other Birch Coffees that are around, but a bit more crowded than the smaller one a few blocks away on third.

They moved down the street recently, so the comments about the hotel and the library are out of date. The new space is nice though.
