People tend to check in during these times:
Among the first bands to play were the Fall, Rancid, Morphine, Stereolab, Slant 6 and 9353.
If you're at a main stage and the bar's packed, get your drinks downstairs in the red room.
cash only.. but they have 2 ATMs
Forget the kids dancing in the boom boom room. Find a seat tucked back in the Red Room. The bar's well stocked, and they serve health food until 2 a.m. Better for that future hangover of yours.
this cash only dive bar, has a great punk sub culture feel, and has a very friendly hipster atmosphere. chill in the 'red room' and go crazy in the concert room. hipster haters beware
I love Black Cat with all my heart
Food for Thought has the cheapest and some of the tastiest vegan food in the city. A must.
Be extra nice to the cranky yet attractive staff for good service.
I loved dancing in the back room. Laid back atmosphere and awesome bartenders
Food for Thought has great Vegan options! But if you like meat get the three cheese lasagna!
The indie-rock temple features two stages, the larger main room (upstairs) and Backstage downstairs, where you can catch up-and-comers.
In keeping with Ferrando’s longstanding philosophy of using minimally processed ingredients & top-quality meat, the menu includes flame-grilled mahi mahi, taco salad & a first rate 3-cheese lasagne.
Favorite venue in DC. Fact!
Black Cat, Black Cat! A little change for the homeless! Black Cat.
Jack-of-all-trades, Black Cat has something for everyone. When there isn’t a show, the jukebox plays timeless tracks. When there is a show, go downstairs for a close encounter with local bands.
If you're here for a concert than shut your stupid mouth while they're playing. Otherwise may the Gods of Zeus splash your face with cheap, rancid beer.
Ear plugs are 50 cents a pair in the red room.
Ladies, use the bathroom downstairs (or wait forever to use the one upstairs)
Get there early so you can actually hear your jukebox picks.
Black Cat Black Cat. Little change for the hooooomeless
Great stuf coming up at the Black Cat, one of the hippest venues in town.
Check out Right Round, an ‘80s alt-pop dance night with DJ lil’e, backstage Friday at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $7. Cash only!

The Wag. Most Excellent.1st Saturday every month/backstage
Where am I?
If you ever see Punk Rock Karaoke on the schedule, ATTEND THAT EVENT! Not only is the event itself a blast, but all proceeds go toward progressive causes!
The Red Room bar is one of our favorite Happy Hour spots, with an assortment of craft-brews, a pool table, jukebox and pinball machine hang out enough and it will feel like an episode of Cheers!
Black Cat, Black Cat! Little change for the hoooomeless
Cash only bar??.. The fuck? Thought this was 2011.. Not 1996.
make sure you attend at least one cryfest... (Smiths vs. The Cure) all night
If you spend too much time here, you'll probably dance with me. I am an excellent dancer.
miller lite > bud lite
The best small music venue I've ever been to. Period.
Doctor Who Happy Hour every Friday @ 7pm
My musical go-to spot in DC for the Cure vs. Smiths, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran/New Order nights alone. Party Lights, usually in the back room downstairs, is also fantastic
Awesome Depeche Mode dance party!!!!
I shoot some great bands here. Must make it a point to hang outside of work like I used to back in my 20s - and the food is way better now ;-)
Bring enough five dollar bills and quarters to drink PBR tall boys, play the velvet underground on the jukebox and shoot pool all night long.
$4 PBR... nuff said.
Enjoy an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer every Saturday at 7:30 pm. The drink special is the Bloody Mary, natch.
Go here to check out new bands, u might just find a new favorite. Ladies, check out the pink leopard bathroom stalls, rawr!
My fave venue, I'm more likely to go To a show here than anywhere else :)
Download Black Cats's free iPhone app, available on the app store. Advance tickets for all shows are available from TicketAlternative.com
The stage is so low, you can't really see anything unless you're right in the front. It's like someone's basement.
Great music. Cash only. No cider downstairs.
