Yes, we have a copy of just about every book ever published in Britain. But we also stage events and run exhibitions. We have free wi-fi too! Visit us soon.
a palace of knowledge. very busy in the cafe during the week! free wifi allegedly, but seems to need registration or membership

Alice in Wonderland exhibition, Lewis Carrol
Love the vibe
Always an interesting set of exhibitions on, both free and paid for. Check out their website for details.
Besides books, there's a rotating schedule of really interesting exhibitions.
They were closed, but they allowed booking guided tour. I was disappointed.
Great library! I love the exhibitions
Reading rooms and areas restricted to members only
Unfortunate this national institution is so unfriendly. Drains the pleasure out of visiting. To drum support for treasured collections, smiling and saying hello will your help your cause.
The bl is running a great exhibition about West Africa. Check this out.
Best Library in the world.
Coffee machine at the third floor (Friends room). 65-85 pence
The Hall of Treasures is fascinating and awe-inspiring.
The reading rooms.
this is a really good, quiet and inspiring place to sit and work/write/read
Reading rooms are very nice here.
Free WiFi and grand library.
SO MANY BOOKS. NERD HEAVEN.
Lovely and peaceful, yet there is almost always a hive of activity with visitors working away on laptops.
Preregister online and order your books before you visit. Some are stored in Yorkshire and take 2 days.
Really lovely modern library
Great for working in style
A great place to study if you're bored with your uni's library. Electricity sockets available by some tables.
The Treasures of the British Library is a fantastic exhibit! And they have a nice café to get a pick me up before you're on your way again!
Free wifi, decent toilets and a great cafe. This is my temp office whenever I'm in London
Cloakroom is free but go a little ahead of time as the queue gets long!
Don't miss their ancient books exhibition!
The one and only!
Amazing free, quick, and usually not crowded exhibit of the Magna Carta and other unique treasures.
Need a pass to look at books, but the atrium is pretty cool - especially the Kings Library!
It is free and has an unbelievable collection of ancient and rare books on display. Don't miss it!
Free wifi, free entrance
The British Library has a cash machine and a postbox. Both are on the lower ground floor; last collection from the postbox is 4pm Mon-Fri.
Focus and determination!
It might not be the first choice on the sightseeing list for first-time London visitors but it's worth visiting. I like Gutenberg.
One of the best places to study or read in London.
Great space. So much to see and do here. The recent exhibition on the Gothic was well worth the entrance fee. Somewhere to visit briefly and then keep revisiting.
You can sign up to the reading room. They hold lots of creative thematic exhibits such as the recent ones regarding comic books and, most recently, gothic literature.
There are new seats and sockets up on the second floor by the Humanities reading room!
The British Library is the second largest library in the world: 14 million books and 150 million items.
As a librarian from the states, I was blown away. The exhibitions were wonderful and I've never seen so many books together in my life. Great experience.
The historical documents etc. are very interesting.
The comic book exhibition isn't as good as I hoped it'd be. The shop is better... :/
The British Library; amazing building; oh and it has a few books! Also has exhibitions!!
Enjoy books, WiFi & coffee
