The Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883 as the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time. It is a National Historic Landmark as well as a New York City Landmark. With over 127 years of heavy use, the bridge is undergoing a major rehabilitation.
Walk across it.
Make sure you spend some time in Dumbo park once you cross out of Manhattan
A trip to NYC is incomplete if you did not walk/cycle across the bridge. You can take lots of cool photos and timelapse videos here. It might get a bit chilly and windy, take a light jacket with you.
Please dont walk across on July or August. Too hot to be a good idea.
In the summertime, finish your walk with some Luke's lobster rolls.
If you want to go for a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, take either the 4, 5, 6, J or Z train to City Hall.
It takes 40-50 minutes to pass the bridge by walking
Beautiful place to walk with someone special. Try to buy souvenirs at the entrance.
Raised my whole life in Brooklyn and I still enjoy this bridge. I feel so lucky to be able to walk over this bridge whenever I want. This is a must if you come to the city
beautiful view no matter where you are standing though it is annoying with all of the street peddlers you encounter on the Manhattan side
Amazing experience to cross it walking or biking. A must.
Crossing this bridge on foot or by bike on a sunny day is a great experience!
Don't dilly-dally on the bridge, there isn't space for it.
Come by night, walk 7 minutes and turn around to see the skyline.
One of the grestest places in the world. You have to walk it all.
Iconic, but also very annoying and stressful to visit thanks to the tourists blocking the way and to the rude runners pushing you to the bike lane.
Pay attention to the walking and biking lanes. Bikers will hit you. Don't stop to take bad pictures of the city either. Pay $40 for a 2 hour boat cruise with much better views
Be careful: crowds of visitors plus many bicycles. But sights are worth it
For a better view, you've got to walk from the Brooklyn side towards Manhattan. 😃 (and respect the walking/bike lanes...)
Seriously one of the best touristy things to do in the city! The views and the history are both incredible
Magnificent view of FiDi. Not an ideal place to run though especially during peak hours. Wish the walk lane was a bit wider.
Great view from here! Feel like in the movies and take awesome pictures!
Go early in the morning or late at night. Living here for 20 years, it's filled with tourists now, so go at those 2 time slots to avoid them
so packed with people on nice days that you can barely move, but at night and in less popular times its amazing
A wonderful place! Always worth a walk.
Awesome view of the entire city!! Go for a walk all the way across! You can see the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building
Walking thru the bridge is a must-do in ny. Period.
What's to say, it's Brooklyn Bridge
Don't when it's sunny 🌞
Take the classic picture
Great spot to catch up and agave a coffee walk with friends
Historic, monumental, really cool!
Amazing sights, watch out if you are taking photos in the bike lane
It's very crowded, but the view of the skyline is worth it to see.
Best time to cross are mornings, going from Brooklyn to Manhattan.
One of the must see places in NYC. Do take the walk through the bridge. The views are breathtaking.
They include tip without notifying you!
Come at sunrise for scenic views of the Manhattan skyline. The building windows will reflect as gold. Otherwise, there will be lots of pedestrians/tourists and bikers taking photos.
Avoid tourist season. So crowded now.
If you've never done it, cross it on foot
Spectacular view, good for fresh air, Walking, watching people and relaxation.
So much traffic..
Astonishing views! Watch out for bikers. Might not look like a long walk but damn, it is.
It's an amazing place!
A marvel of engineering and architecture. Worth walking over, in spite of the crowds, for a special view of lower Manhattan. On the Brooklyn side, stop by Brooklyn Ice Cream factory to reward yourself
Walk towards Manhattan during sunset. Don't be intimidated, it doesn't take that long to get all the way across. Watch out for bikers they will run you over without remorse!
