Among the many things that can be said about this place's selection of beer, not said often enough here is that it provides an escape from the typical fratty Fremont night scene.

Belgium cranks out some of the biggest, boldest beers out there. If Belgium’s making it, you can bet this bar has it on tap. Whatever you order, slug it down with a bowl of mussels and plate of fries.

Ask for the bottle list, and make sure you check out the whiskey selection. Cheap schooners for happy hour, and the sandwiches are all pretty incredible. Some of the greatest comfort food in the city.

Brasserie Cantillon's 2004 Lou Pepe by the bottle is well worth the price. A kriek that's not too sweet and not too sour should be sampled at least once in life in order to obtain the rank of beer sno
