2 of my fav stalls - 133 Penang CKT ($4) and He Zhong Carrot Cake ($2). Waiting time was about 20 minutes each at 7pm on a Sunday. Best to come with more friends to help chop seats and queue!

Chai tow kway (fried carrot cake) shootout betw Seng Kee #02-182 & He Zhong #02-185. Both r tasty. SK's fried pieces r firm & savoury. HZ's is fluffier & more fragrant, & their eggs more fried

Kopi. According to an elderly local who lives in the neighbourhood (forever), the top kopi stalls are: Hainan (#02-163), Hup Cheong (#02-173) & Eng Kee (#02-169) — in that order

Glad I chose the satisfying semi-soupy Sliced Fish Bee Hoon with LaLa, topped with fragrant-bitter fried garlic and pork lard (to enhance flavour) from Prosperity Seafood White Bee Hoon stall #02-180.

Fishball noodles. Lee Kwang Kee #03-179 serves without 'her giao' (fish dumpling). Signature bowl comes with slices of large fish cakes (normal & spicy). Likewise for their factory-made fishballs

Stall 02-189 with simple sign "Nasi Lemak Zha Kueh Min Jian Kueh" makes their mi chiam kueh (Chinese pancake) individually. Soft batter style. 2 filling options: peanuts or tau sar (red bean paste)

Chee cheong fun (steamed rice rolls). Fans flock to #02-183 simple for simple & clean breakfast. Run by an elderly couple, you can be sure of traditional, unadulterated tastes

Porridge/congee. There are several stalls here but neighbours zoom in on 粥品 #01-121. Flavourful base of rice porridge. Comes with a free stick of yutiao (fried dough fritters)

Dec 2016: Bring mum here for tea break ~ popular He Zhong Carrot Cake (from #02-185). She's already eyeing on Satay & Hokkien Mee here for me to da-bao home next time when I'm here before meal hour 😅

One of the busier breakfast stalls on a working day. Sheng Cheng #02-165 prepares minced meat fishball noodles. Ask for lar pok (fried pork lard cubes) for an added oomph!

the thunder tea rice at the vegetarian stall is so big n good. the steamed egg at the steamed stall pits the steamed egg on top of a pork patty, not just a little minced pork. for 2.80. good n deal

leng kee sliced fish bee hoon: one of the best of its kind. they are generous with the fish slices, the chilli has the oomph factor and the soup is flavorful. healthy food seldom tastes so good!

Soy sauce chicken. My serving from Bukit Timah Eating House #01-197 came without chicken skin, the part I enjoy most when eating this style. The meat was overcooked — soft & almost falling off bone

Stopover this perceived warm & claustrophobic place for late lunch seeing so many vacated carpark lots, and chose the seat facing Bukit Timah Hill and open space for a pleasant short chill-out moment.

Penang char kway teow. A much welcome addition to our hawker fare. I go here when I'm looking for a change. 133 Penang Authentic #02-193 is run by true Penangites. Generous ingredients in CKT

Its my first time stopover this perceived warm & claustrophobic place for late lunch, as I'm too hungry before continuing work nearby. Will be back during non-peak meal hrs, so many good food here.

Peter Pans grilled fish is gross. Don't ever eat the fish there. Order chicken. Nice they serve with wedges and cold coleslaw. The pizzeria has the nicest seafood aglio olio with chili and clams!

Fish soup stall 14X looks so-so $1 more than the other stall behind near side staircase. But chilli paste is good. Soup has less fishy smell during or after taste even without much vegetables.
