Burt's specializes in pan pizza, which features a focaccia-like crust and a ring of caramelized cheese around the exterior. It's as great as it sounds.

Place is out of touch with neighborhood customers, they want you to wait 3 hours for a pizza and you have to call in days in advance to place the order or dine in,rather go to Pequod's or Gullivers

Extra Sauce, Extra Cheese: Burt's pizza is plenty delicious as is, so most people don't feel the need for extra sauce or cheese. But with the extra sauce and cheese, it is simply magnificent.

At Burt's Place everything is handcrafted from the crust to the sauce to the sausage. As seen on Travel Channel’s Food Paradise: Manliest Restaurants 2.

Don't miss the spinach, tomato, and garlic pie. Cheesy and hearty, with a bit of crunch in the crust and a tomato sauce that's flavorful, slightly acidic and sweet without overpowering the toppings.

Worst pizza ever! Bring cash, they don't accept cards. Sidenote- i thought i was going to get killed and baked into the pizza.

At Burt's demand surpasses supply. Call during regular business hours (there's no answering machine), and let them know what you want and when. You eat some truly outstanding pizza. Read more

This place is a dive. Don't expect a "classy" eating experience but do expect a great pizza and friendly service.

When making reservations you are expected to place your order right then or you can't make the reservation. Your food will be ready as soon as you arrive.

Call ahead to make reservations. The place is really small and you can get turned away if you just decide to walk in.

Burt's oven is full, there may be seats in the room but no room in the oven. Follow the rules and you'll be fed the best pizza in Chicago.

Ask about what veggies they have fresh that day. Very good pizza and people. Call ahead is a must.

I don’t know that I’d call it ”pizza.” Whatever Burt’s selling is something special. Some kind of crusty, tomatoey, cheesy casserole something with delightfully fresh toppings. – Anthony Bourdain Read more

Call in ahead of time and be early. Great pizza. Place has been open for 39 years!

I'm sorry but a sit down restaurant that can't accommodate walk-in guests when the place is empty and is rude about it on top of that? I don't care how good the pizza is. I will not be back.

Bathroom like a POW camp, but a one-of-a-kind joint nonetheless.
