Great views of San Diego and the Bay. On a clear day you can see the Coronado Islands. If your lucky you may even see a big Navy ship entering or leaving the harbor.

Even on a sunny day, temperatures here can be cool, so bring a jacket; and pack a lunch -- the site has great picnicking spots but no food facilities. You should plan on a minimum of 90 minutes here.

Make sure you get to the tide pools before 3 to be safe. The sign says 4:30, but the Rangers can be very unfriendly and close the gate early.

The lighthouse is one of the iconic symbol of San Diego. The view is awesome. The monument includes old parts of Fort Rosecrans an Army installation built in 1898.
