ALWAYS crowded, but you will always find a seat. Great for a quick bite, but pretty noisy. You HAVE to try the beignets and Café au lait. It's a delicious little treat you have to try when visiting NO

The beignets were everything I expected and more - best eaten hot and fresh. Worth the wait, grab some of their beignet mix to take home because trust me, you're going to crave these one you're home

Beignets will be unlike any dessert you have ever tried. The moment you take a bite, it takes you back to your childhood, brings you eternal youth and makes you feel like youre sliding down a rainbow.

Mardi Gras is just an excuse to chow down on beignets from the legendary Café du Monde. This Louisiana treat--fried dough covered in powdered sugar--is what every other doughnut dreams of becoming. Read more

Best time to come is evenings and early nights, beautiful setting. Relax, grab a table, sip your coffee, and take in the scenery and music around you. Romantic spot after sunset.

Expect a wait...try to get one of the waiters and place a Take out order directly with him/her rather to wait to order at window. Make a mention you take care of them, and please do. They will behappy

Better on a cold day. Less crowded and more appetizing. But, a must while in town either way. Stick to the classic beignet and café au lait.

There is not other cafe at New Orleans with beignets like this. Are really awesome. Try to take a table, or just take an order to go while you walk trough the French Market

We went just for the beignets. Tip: if you don't care about sitting and getting coffee, order at the to go window and eat as you walk or rest at the river with your bag of goodies.

A NOLA must! Gotta keep your eyes peeled for an open table though, and the service is depressing (no one is happy to be working there). THE best coffee - take home a can!

No trip to New Orleans is complete till you visit cafe du monde. Beignets and cafe au lait are worth the wait. Use the powdered sugar from the beignet to sweeten the coffee.

This is a must every trip to the French Quarter! Been there, done that, bought the hat! Btw... Their hats are 15 cents to buy. Great for kids or scrapbookers like myself!

There is always a line in the morning and afternoon... But no lines in the evening... Lines go fast so don't worry. Always a small band playing music on the street for you to enjoy!

Absolutely amazing and completely worth the wait. If the line seems too long for you now just come back when it's not breakfast hours, it will most likely be shorter.

Since 1862. Open 24/7. It's a NoLa institution. Go here and try the beignets once and then go try the beignets at Cafe Beignet. These aren't bad at all, but they aren't best. Cafe Beignet for the win.

Their beignets and coffee are off the chain! You definitely want to drop by here before leaving New Orleans. Even if it's crowded and you have to wait for a table, the line moves quickly. Worth it!

Stop by here for beignets and cafe au lait. Love that they have a frozen cafe au lait as well. If it is a busy day, go to the to go orders and enjoy your beignets by the river.

We were there in April and even at 12 at night this place was busy! Excellent little cafe to grab a warm drink and a beignet! They come out warm, too. I miss this place already!

Must stop during your trip to New Orleans. If the line is long go around the side to the take out window and take your beignets across the street and sit in Jackson Square and take in the view.

Yes, it's cliché and a number one tourist spot, and yes, you should go. It's a classic not to be missed. Beignets are warm and coffee is good. Three (small) beignets per order, by the way.

Be patient&kind to the waitstaff. You look like an asshat snapping at them as they are run by with a tray full of dishes or food. Take a look around; you're not the only table waiting! Worth the wait!

The place to be for beignets and cafe au lait. But give their hot chocolate a try as well. It's a cash business only and can get crowded so be ready to wait.

The one place in your life where you can truly order everything on the menu! Lines can be long so be prepared or come during off peak hours.

The challenge is to not get the powdered sugar on you face. When in NOLA this is a must beignets (3) and the cafe au lait. Go really late at night or during the week. Wait can be very long.

I like to come early in the mornings on weekdays before work and before it's overrun with tourists... And watch the city wake up with a stretch and a yawn as the sun rises over the Mississippi River.

Usually there is a line, but be aware that no one is seating you, so you need to fight for a table. However, it is definitely worth the wait. Delicious beignets and great service!

Patio and inside is self seating. Order everything when your server comes to your table the first time. Water, cafe a lait, beginetes. Pay with cash when they bring you everything at once.

This is the place for awesome French donuts. Don't get it confused with "New Orleans Famous Beignets and Coffee" which is just down the street. It is not the same by far...Go only here! (cash only)

Come later in the day or early in the morning! And go for the hot Cafe au Lait once and then grab the frozen. It's a coffee slushie!

Café du Monde is open around the clock (except Christmas). Stop by a little after sunrise, before the crowds. A bit surreal when the Quarter is still misty from its overnight bath (aka power washing).

Waits are always long. If you just want to enjoy the beignets and coffee, go around to the back line and ask for take out. You'll pay extra, but it'll save you an hour.

The line for the take out is on the back side of the store. We stood in line without anyone telling us and then had to stand in another line. But it was delicious and worth it!!!'

Go at night there are no lines, and we saw long lines every day! Also, our waiter Tom was the absolute best and worked harder than anyone else there! Delicious beignets!

Go to the take out window and snag some beignets and a coffee. Beignets better here than cafe beignet, coffee is not. Go sit in the steps and watch the circus roll by.

Had beignets at both Cafe du Monde and Cafe Beignet to choose which one was truly "the best beignet" in NOLA and Cafe du Monde takes the cake or, rather, the pastry.

Not only are the beignets to die for (literally), but the surrounding atmosphere couldn't be more joyous on a sunny day. If possible, leave a monetary tip for the hard-working musicians outside!

What can I say? This is an icon of New Orleans. While you may be able to get "better" beignets elsewhere, this is on the "must do" list if you want to experience the essence of NOLA.

Be patient & observant. A table will open up eventually. Don't wear dark clothes. Di not inhale when taking a bite of the beignet. Get a drink & some beignets and enjoy!
