This artist’s café is more – it’s a Viennese institution. Gourmets recognize the Hawelka - especially after 10 pm - by the wonderful smell of Buchteln, yeast buns filled with jam. Read more

After reading other comments, we decided just to get there, order directly two Sacher Torte and an espresso and a chocolate. Delicious, especially the espresso. No credit cards, so take enough cash.

An amazing place to enjoy a great melange on a late winter afternoon. Free wi-fi. For me, the number 1 Kaffeehaus in Vienna.

One of the most famous small coffeshops. Used to be ran for 60 years by Hawelka couple who knew everything about viennese culture and sit & talked 2u but this has changed with younger generation..

Great no-nonsense service and atmosphere, very genuine. Coffee and strudel is delicious, make sure you bring cash as they don't accept card payments.

There is no menu and the waiters prefer you to speak in German. That said, if you’re decisive and ask for what you want, my wait happily told me what they had in English and the service was quick.

Definitely one of the most authentic Viennese cafes. Expect to wait cause it's always crowded...but totally worth it. Amazing apfelstrudel.

Do not ask for the menu, it is on the wall, written by chalk on a small blackboard. Rude and unfriendly staff. Buchteln mit Powidl for 10 €. Not worth the price thanks to outdated interior and waiters

Every review is great, so we were a little disappointed. Coffee ok, service not at it best. The waiter forgot what we ordered, and it was really difficult to get the bill and pay so we could move on.
