It's way crowded, the live music is way too loud, and ~$9 for a slice of cake? The cake was ok, we got the Belgian chocolate cake . . . but I've had better. It wasn't too bad.

I have been coming here for their steamed eggs for years. The desserts are amazing. Go early to avoid sitting shoulder to shoulder with people.

A classic with delicious coffee and desserts! They give you a cute chocolate with your drink. The "international brunch" menu is cute, too, but I prefer sticking to after-dinner options here.

Upper West Side classic - try the international breakfasts (great deals on little continental meals) or the Lalo salad. Beautiful cakes and breads.

If you are expecting a good dessert, this is not the place. Over crowded and dessert didn't taste fresh. Overrated tourist place. Very disappointed.

Gorgeous atmosphere. My pastry was good, frozen hot chocolate was more like a milkshake but still good. Super cute place.

Their most abundant food item -steamed eggs - were not great, and the roast potatoes were cold and dried out. The pecan cheesecake tasted old too. Not a hit for me.

I am not a big fan of red velvet but this one was delicious. I give it a 10/10, but the black and white cheesecake was like a 5/10

The eggs weren't anything special but the coffee and baked goods (especially the scones) are delicious. Plus, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks ate here. :)

Dining at Cafe Lalo is like being in a true Parisian bistro; tables are squeezed together, conversations are loud, and the coffee is brewed well. Credit card minimum of $10.

I wonder how Shopgirl managed to be here almost alone when she waited for NY152. Yes, it's the place from You've Got Mail movie. It was overcrowded, big time. Delicious pastry and coffee though.

You've Got Mail appearance or not, one of my favorite spots in NYC. Before you ask, Viennese Coffee is coffee with whipped cream on top.

We hit this place at 8pm on a Sunday and to was jammed and noisy. I'd like to try it again when it is quieter. Orange lemon cake was great! Also fresh orange juice.

Servers look like junior high kids in undershirts, they stare when customers walk in! They have no idea how to be professional. Cute decor, unfitting music. (Switchfoot and a French cafe? Fail.)

Lalo is one of those places that I debated writing about as I enjoy it so much, would said this does deserve praise for being a charming and delightful destination for the Coffee and magnificent cake.
