Order (in this order): A beer + shot of rum for $1, the Yoyos and/or plantain chips and La Surena. #dareyounottoloveit
Get the del Gato. One if you're hungry, two if you're starving, three if you're crazy!
HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF MORE: Try the mini arepa balls in the appetizer menu then add generous amounts of their secret sauce.
Great food, lousy (table) service.
Is there anything not to like?
If you're going for take out prepare to wait. Especially if you order the yoyos(fried green plantains stuffed with cheese). Call beforehand.
The yoyos are the best kept secret, but everything is good. I get La surena or the special almost everytime.
Much more comfortable than its east village counterpart.
Yummy arepas. Try the special sauce. Yoyos for an app.
I ⥠the Caracas in NYC but the Brooklyn Caracas has more tables and a wine store across the street for DIY Booze. Venezuelans tell me it's inauthentic- but it tastes real to me.
Almost every arepa can be ordered with the meat or cheese substituted for baked tofu.
Also- you can buy the sauce. Who needs ketchup -- My BF puts it on EVERYTHING we cook at home.
I regularly crave the ensalata fresca. Watercress, avocado, roasted tomatoes, cukes, cotija & magical plantain chips hidden underneath. Oh and passion fruit dressing. One of my fave salads anywhere.
The arepa de pabellon is amazing. I can't seem to avoid ordering the gusacaca & chips...huge basket. Make sure you have a friend to share it with...
peel off the wax paper from your take out arepa before biting into it and marveling at its consistency.
If you're a small person, one arepa is enough.
The roomier location of this East Village favorite for saucy, spicy Venezuelan sandwiches.
Order tostones for the table as an appetizer. Yum!
If you've never had an arepa you're missing out in life. My fave is the Surena. Add tons of 'crack' sauce.
Come with a party of 20 or more! Plenty of room!
Definitely get the La del Gato. Vegetarian AND the best.
food is just as good as e. village location with no wait and some pretty decent rum cocktails. it's a winner.
get here early on the weekends. and by early i mean brunch.
Go and sit in the back garden, its great for conversation and amazing mojitos
Amazing rum selection. Great arapes. Lovely Knowedgeable manager. Welcome to Venezuela.
Brilliant rum selection. And very knowledgeable manager. Welcome to venezuela
One of the best selections of rum in NYC.
White sangria is yummy ! :)
La surena+michelada=can't get better than that!
Best place to get weekend brunch without a wait
You can never go wrong with La Mulata. Or taqueños.
This location is way larger than the east village joint. No wait, excellent bartender, and same tasty food
De pabellon arepa. Shredded beef, black beans, cheese, sweet plantains. It's a religious experience in your mouth. Less crowded than east village location.
All the arepas are good. Pabellon and pernil are personal favs.
The arepas are amazing! Try the reina. :)
Everything on this menu is awesome except 2 of the appetizers. Be sure to get the Tostones. Favorite arepa is La del Gato with Chorizo. Their house sauce is amazing.
get the tostones if u know what's good for u
THE BEST FOOD A+
The rum Manhattan cocktails are actually really awesome!
Vegetarian friendly! You can add tofu to your arepas now!
Get the sultena!
La Mulata is my favorite arepa but I really only eat it so I can smother it in their homemade hot sauce
Food was 👌!
