That's just marvelous, these castle walls you can see while Lisbon from, the green landscapes on the top make you feel refreshed any time being there. Must see for any crazy history lover like me!
Worth for the Lisbon view, take the walk option to get to it, trams are quite crowded. A nice (but pricey restaurant inside, some good Nata coffee shop next to the castle entrance)
Great view of Lisbon, if you're a student you get a discount on your admission fee, I especially loved the old cannons and the water well. Try to come early in the morning for a breathtaking view ✨
Splendid view of the city of Lisbon. You can climb up the walls of the castle, look around the grounds and visit the on-site Archeological museum. The entry prices (June 2013) were a decent €7.50.
Wonderful views across the city, but I was missing any sort of historic feeling when I wandered through 20th century concrete reconstructions of what used to be the historic birthplace of Lisbon.
The beautiful Saint George Castle is where you'll get a glimpse of Lisbon's history as well as get amazing views of the city and the Tagus River. Pay close attention to the amazing Ogival House.
Come here at half 9 when It opens if your a photographer and want to take clean shots without many tourists around. B careful walking along the edge of the castle as you can fall off !
Really a great place! Beautiful views over all the city, even if you have to "hike" up to the towers of this castle. Entrance price reduced for students under 25 years. Free wifi.
Earliest Lisbon settlements here in 6th cen. BCE; oldest castle remains from the Moorish era. Captured from Moors by A. Henriques in 1147. Royal residence until 1511. See views and historical tours!
Nice place to hang out for a long time. Half a day? Easy! Peacock families walking around people, parrots (go to archeological area), cats relaxing under bushes, and castle on its own
Fantastic views across Lisbon. The gardens are very scenic and the peacocks were a nice surprise. Worth the walk up the hill from town, too, if you can manage it.
One of the most beautiful castles ive been too. The grounds are large enough that it does not feel crowded. Note: periscope closes at 5pm so be sure get in before then.
Only reason to pay 8.5€ is the view...it's nice medieval castle with quite a few interesting corners but only spectacular thing is the view... Gets pretty crowded on weekends
This impressive 10th-century crenellated castle and citadel where Celts, Romans, Visigoths, and Moors successively held sway has knockout views of the Alfama.
The stair climb is work the effort as it allows one to walk the total perimeter of the upper walls. The views from the top are inspiring!
Any King fit enough to rule this Castle? To get to the castle you can catch Tram 28 in chiado or baixa or Tram 12 in Praça do Martim Moniz.
Pro Tip!!!! don't leave without finding a lady selling coins. Her husband is a true artist and makes jewelry out of them. I've posted a photo of it
Just the view of Lisbon would be enough but it's also great to walk around the castle and explore it! It's better to go early in the morning to miss the crowd of tourists!
wanna feel like being in game of thrones. Come here for an awesome view of the city, and if you wanna use the thrones they are very clean
It's a castle. You go in castle because it's high. You go high because it's good pictures. It's good pictures because your friends be jealous. Duh.
Even always it's worth, prices have raised exaggeratedly without any other complementary service. Journalists now have to book in advance.
Went there on a Sunday afternoon (much less crowded than on the previous Saturday)
Mind the lines at the ticket counter. A nice visit can easily turn into a nightmare if the buses have been unloading packs of tourists.
Get a student discount with your student ID if you are under 25. Go a bit earlier to avoid tourist crowds
Truly a great view. There is also a small garden half way through that a family of peacocks lives in!
You must visit this historical place when you are in Lisboa ! Don't miss to take a few postcards photos.
Amazing view above the city. And easier to access than other viewpoints. Inside the castle you have a cafe.
Nice castle surrounded by a lovely neighbourhood with nice small streets. Also a nice view from here.
Go here with tram 28 (buy a dayticket) and enjoy the view. One of the best views in the city!
Nice ! While waiting in the long queue for tickets, security guard took us off the queue for a dedicated line for pregnant ladies ! Sweet ! Kids under 10 are free !
It is worth visiting here and on a sunny day the views over the city and the water are amazing
Nice view to the city from here, but nothing else. I think it does not worth the 12 EUR entrance fee...
Unless you want to have a long, steep walk, take the 28E Tram! It's worth the money (under 2 euros).
It's all about the view of Lisbon, which is amazing. All that remains from the castle are the walls. 8,5 euro ticket
Beautiful view of Lisbon, with deep history behind it. Great place to start an adventure in Lisbon.
Great views. Consider that from November to March is open until 6pm. Just in summer is open till 9pm.
Greet view over Lisbon. Lovely elephant garden in the back. Do not feed them!
Take enough time to enjoy all the corners and do not miss the "romantic" garden.
Nice view of the surroundings, however the castle itself is skippable to me... 🏯
Great fun playing on the battlements, fighting off invading hordes. Got an arrow to the leg, but hey, all in a day's work, right?
Take a session of explanation about the city where the guy shows all sides of the city in real time with a ser of mirror and screen
Beware of the gypsy pickpocket. They are organized. They're around. Do not wear backpack.
Gorgeous, marvellous, very special. Historic area. Fascinating views.
No surprise, great view. But the castle itself is meh.
Sadly it was closed when we got there. So I can't speak much about the scenic views or other things.
Awesome view and don't miss the camara obscura. An old invention by DaVinchi.
Go there before sunset - amazing views over town
Amazing view, worth to visit it!
Come before sunset and enjoy the evening views.
Great Lisbon is perfectly seen here...do not miss peacocks walking over
