People tend to check in during these times:
Punk mecca CBGB launched the careers of the Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie and Television. The legendarily grimy club continued to host rock shows by unknowns and legends alike until closing in 2006.
CBGB opened in 1973. Without it, punk may never have taken off like it did. Bands could play, hang out, bounce ideas around, and give to the scene. And a good scene is everything for a music movement.
Location of the famous Ramones cover and most likely one of the most famous places to ever catch a show. We shed a tear every time we think about how CBGB's is gone and now it's John Varvatos.
Tons of thefamily3 members performed at the classic punk venue, CBGB until it closed in 2006. There's even a full @Weerd_Science set & video interview on youtube!
Other than it's closed it was awesome.
Come visit the non-related store that rests in the former home of the historic punk club.
This legendary venue doesn't exist anymore. Sadly enough, you'll find a Varvatos store. Needless to say, it looks amiss. RIP CBGB's...
John Varvatos made it his own but left just enough to honor this great club, including the smell of piss.
Great site for memories of punk rock...still some original records and band material. Gotta give props to John Varvatos
Closing it's doors in October 2006, CBGB remains the worlds most iconic punk rock venue. Acts such as the Ramones and Misfits called CBGB home, while '90s matinee hardcore shows remain legendary.
