The visit is really worth and the ticket is not expensive: only 15€ including the audioguides. The chateau is magnificent and kept in a good status.

A must see, in easy reach by RER from central Paris. Make sure to get the audio guide, you'll miss great background otherwise and the movies about the history of Versailles play audio through them.

Louis XIV spent 50% of the country's GDP building this. No wonder they ended up killing off the monarchy. Revolution!

The park is an amazing place for a walk in Sunday. If you just want to benefit from it for free just enter from back entrance (3 km from main one)

Notice that the Palaces of Trianon and Marie-Antoinette's Estate is 25 min walk from the palace, the mini train is €7.5 round trip. So you might end up paying €10.5 for the Palaces of Trianon.

After ogling the beautiful interior of the château, be sure to check out current installation by Anish Kapoor in the gardens. The whirlpool is ominously beautiful.

Do not bother going on a cold rainy day. You won't get the best out of the gardens. Wish we could have rented bicycles and rode around the grounds all afternoon. Next time.

It closes every Monday but you can enjoy the gardens 😊

There is always a big queue on the entrance. But the officers arrange it very organised and it did not took too long to get in the area. Especially, gardens must be seen.

Go early on a week day! Went on a Sunday afternoon, it was a mad house! The garden is amazing, rent a golf cart early to get around and explore!

It is a huge palace but the garden.. Is that a garden or a whole county?!

    Feyza Arikan · July 15, 2015
  • Maria V.

The palace is magnificent but the gardens wouldn't mind more watering and the fountains could be working for that entry fee.

    Maria Voronina · July 10, 2015

Do not miss the Battles Gallery. Maybe the most impressive part of the whole house.

    Jake Smith · July 5, 2015

The entire estate is truly a sight to behold, but I was most impressed with the individual sections of garden, which each have their own theme. Spend some time getting lost out there.
