It is better if you come with your ticket already bought via Internet.

    Been here 5+ times
Book your tickets online and come early. Avoid saturdays and afternoons, unless you don't want to visit the gardens.

Really awesome castle but VERY crowdy inside. You don't have time to look long on something. The garden is breathtaking and definitely worth the visit.

Didn't go inside because of the crowd but you can head to the gardens! It's really beautiful!
  • Bobby K.
A must-see. Once you get into the courtyard, have one person wait in the long line to enter the chateau while another goes into the left-hand side building to buy entry tickets.
  • Wednesday T.
The gardens are amazing - be sure and see them when the fountains are flowing.
  • Iva K.
Get tickets online and skip the queues. Personally, I loved the gardens way more than the halls. In the gardens, stray from the center and dive into the bosques and groves.

The first Sunday of the month is free-that means EVEN MORE people. It is one of the rare wonders of the world that is worth battling crowds for, but if you can: pay for it and go on a weekday.

A must see, in easy reach by RER from central Paris. Make sure to get the audio guide, you'll miss great background otherwise and the movies about the history of Versailles play audio through them.

Louis XIV spent 50% of the country's GDP building this. No wonder they ended up killing off the monarchy. Revolution!

Notice that the Palaces of Trianon and Marie-Antoinette's Estate is 25 min walk from the palace, the mini train is €7.5 round trip. So you might end up paying €10.5 for the Palaces of Trianon.
