    Spacious station, trains to Kent depart from the left hand side. Toilets are free again. It's faster to walk down Villiers St to Embankment station to change to Circle & District line.

    Need a power socket for charging? Enter Charing Cross Hotel, walk past reception, up stairs to first landing. Big comfy chair with power socket behind. Perfect!

    For a great view of parliament an the eye, leave the station by the exit next to platform 1 and walk down towards the embankment tube station. Go under the railway and up the steps on your left. Sweet

    It's possible to get from the station to Greenwich without crossing any roads. Take the exit to the left of the platforms, cross the bridge, then follow the Thames on south then north bank.

    This place is named after a cross put here by Edward I in 1290. He erected 12 crosses in all, each marking where his queen’s body rested overnight, en route from Lincoln to burial at Westminster.
