Nice staff and great facilities - the Delta terminal A could use a facelift ! Breakfast at uptown bar & lounge rather limited A had to pay extra for milk in my coffee ! Only cream in small packets !
Very nice airport. Free wifi in all terminals as long as you sign up with one sponsors. There is a row of rocking chairs where you can recharge your phone or plug in. I also liked the rolling carpets
If you are looking for a place to grab some quick zZzZ's check out the flat benches by the window in B8, all other benches have arms so you can't sprawl out but these two blue benches are hidden gems!
For a great & cheap Southern meal or all day breakfast, stop by Bojangles at the end of Concourse B. Great biscuits, fried chicken, dirty rice and sweet tea! Sweet tea up on the rocking chairs b/w B&C
The main concourse is a paradise compared to the four gate areas. Grab some decent sushi there and rock the white chairs while you watch the mini vintage planes go round hanging above the sushi place
Bad Daddy's burgers in terminal C are awesome. I'm a pilot based at the CLT and in my personal opinion it's the best sit-down dining in the airport. I'm a veggie and they have vegetarian options too!
Place is very crowded stick close to the walls when your walking or if u want to be a bulldozer like myself walk right through the middle haha anyway this place has plenty to do! You won't get bored!
Some terminals areole upgraded than others so hope you are in a good one because flights are always delayed here. Check out the Fox Sports Bar to catch a game or grab a mani/pedi on the spa. No joke.
Free WI-FI is nice, except it is up/down off/on. Each time it reconnects, you MUST accept the Terms of Usage! Not sure if it is worth it - reconnect in Food Court, between Concourses, and even Gates!
Customer service all over this airport has always been superb! Darrell took great care to get me from concourse A to C with last minute change in his cart. Been delayed here a lot always leave happy.
The curbside valet is a great service; I wouldn't have made my outbound flight otherwise! Plus my car was waiting for me after texting my claim ticket number from the gate. Worth the $$$ in a pinch!
If you're not comfy with restroom attendants, use the "family" restroom. My experience is that they're usually empty b/c families aren't using them so they're a breeze to get in and out. Just FYI :o)
If u have a connecting flite Make sure the concourse is close....running a mile before a flite within minutes is not fun . However the people are so pleasent and accommodating to get out of your way:)
As a non-rev, I come here often.... If you have down time, it's easy to find an outlet away from the crowds. Especially in Terminal E- I've caught up on many tv shows there with great secure wifi
Take three steps away from the baggage carousel so everyone can see. You have no guarantee that your bag is coming out first. Don't make faces if others have to push through; comes with the territory.
Free wifi, AWESOME food, white rocking chairs throughout, plentiful windows and vistas; it is an excellent and charming airport. I go out of my way to come here, and enjoy any layover I get.
Food options are commercialized and mediocre. If you see something that looks good jump on it. Grab a rocking chair. They are a unique touch. E-Gate is a hike to or fro anywhere. Get a cart.
If you have a long layover, take a peek at Charlotte-Douglas' public viewing spot. Watch planes take off, land, and taxi to/from the runway at one of the best airport views in the U.S.
Little sandwich stalls in 'E' sell delicious fruity yoghurt things with crunchy doodahs u can sprinkle on it. Better than any of the other buttery fried cheese covered gristly fastfood that is running
If you use the curbside valet and are TSA Pre Approved you can pull up to the airport and be at your gate in 10 minutes or less. You gota love that!
Things I always forget about this airport: it takes a LONG time to get from one end to the other (leave plenty of time to connect) and the bathrooms have attendants who awkwardly talk while you pee.
If you are in CLT, first ask yourself why. If the answer is because it was't in your control, take a deep breath, leave. If you are here voluntarily, lift your head up high and blow your brains out.
A lot of places to eat, get something to read and rocking chairs to relax if you got before your flight. Security checkpoint has, for me, been very quick, 10 to 15 min waiting time.
Sprinter to downtown leaves every 20 minutes, gets to the Downtown Transit Center in about 20 minutes & costs $2 each way (2013). Helpful drivers will direct you to transfers for your hotel downtown.
Word to the wise: get out your laptop, take off your shoes and belt, and don't stand there holding up the security line if you want to get on your plane with as little irritation as possible.
Head over to main Atrium between Concourse B and C to listen to live pianist. They are usually there in the evenings and sometimes during the day.
Long layover? Chill out at the First in Flight bar, while enjoying the live pianist and the interesting mobile/sculpture above your seat. There are power outlets under the bar!
If you are in terminal B looking for tasty food at a decent price. Go to Bojangle's famous fried chicken and biscuits. Dirty rice as a side is yummy.
Be ready for a dash across this airport. I suspect schedulers are having fun watching the run from E gates to B with short connections. They even stop many of the moving walkways for additional laughs
Efficient airport--be prepared to walk a lot though! Also, if you are on the conveyor belt things, don't just stand! Or of you do, stand to the side so people can get by. :)
You better make sure you have enough time if you're coming in on a small flight and connecting to a larger aircraft. The concourses are far apart they have moving walkways to get u there
The Carolinas Aviation Museum is only a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport’s main terminal. The museum has an extensive collection of planes and a great observation deck.
Great airport easy to get around just read the sings. If you have a long layover sit on the rocking chairs specially at night. Ppl are very nice! A taste of Southern hospitality
A great place to get wifi, power, a stool and a bar to work on is the Cinnabon by Gate E3/4. next to the soda case.Buy something if you will sit here, don't be a freeloader.
This airport is huge, people walk REALLY slow and don't get the concept of stand to the right/walk to the left on the people movers. So be patient and hope you have 10-15 min between flights.
Don't rush to baggage claim. Often, espec. during busy hours, it takes several minutes for the luggage from a flight to come out. Check boards across from the bottom of the escalator for your flight.
FREE WiFI. Love the rocking chairs and live piano music in atrium. Lots of places to plug in if you look around. Seems like some of the moving sidewalks are always broken.
Unless you have a long layover the airport is horrible!!! You have to walk 5miles to get to a connecting flight! Everyone is so nice but if I am running late MOVE OVER southern hospitality my ass! :)
Moving walkways were designed to expedite the process of walking through the large airport. Don't clog it up. Keep walking people... It is NOT a ride. Disney World rides only an hour flight away... ;)
Take ALL of your liquids out of your carry-on! You may even want to put your cell phone in the bin as well...it's a smaller airport, they've got a lot of time on their hands...
Hey zone 5'ers! Sit down & stop blocking gates, you're not going anywhere anytime soon & your bags won't have bin space. Check the bag at the gate and stop running it for everyone, we have places 2 B!
Very nice airport. Nice scenic view of planes taking off on the runway, which I enjoy watching. Nice small selection of stores to shop at-especially the Body Shop.
No matter where you're coming from, or where you are going if you are connecting.... You will HAVE TO walk clear across the entire airport! Male sure to give yourself plenty of lay over time!
This airport is so effing long. Takes forever to walk from one side to the other. If you land in Terminal A and you have a tight connection in Terminal E, prepare to run and barrel thru bystanders.
If you have a connecting flight go to your terminal first before using the bathroom or getting food, it's a big airport with large crowds,so it takes a bit to get to your next terminal.
Hungry for Cuban food while flying to the Caribbean in the Charlotte Airport? Try authentic Cuban cuisine at the Original Rum Bar and Grill by gate D2. Try the pressed Cuban Sandwich!
There are many moving sidewalks which make navigating this expansive airport a little challenging. The rocking chairs are a unique southern touch. Also plenty of shopping!
As you're walking through the atrium to get to Starbucks make sure you leave a tip for the pianist - especially if he's playing vintage Ben Folds - even if he misses a key or two.
Be prepared to wait once you land. CLT needs a traffic analysis done for planes driving the tarmac. And the airport is always crowded and your gate is far away and everyone walks slow! Worst airport.
