One best known border-crossing of Cold War days. The spot remains a must see sight, even accounting for the fact that there is little left to recall the atmosphere of pre-1989 days. The site functioned from 1961-90 as the main entry/departing point for diplomats, journalists and no...
It is ok but not urgent
Get to glimpse a bit of history in action.
Historic and fascinating, a poignant reminder of the Cold War and the human misery it caused.
Always very busy
History, museum, check point Charlie
Unfortunately what could have been an interesting historical sight is just a tourist trap. Snap a picture from afar (lest they charge you for it) and move on.
Not much to see. Preferably visit it as part of a bike tour and not alone...
Won't say that it's a must visit, but there are a lot of historical details saved what is definitely important
Take a picture with the guards. So much fun
Boring and overrated tourist trap!
Big brother is watching you! :p
If you're a tourist, you have to go there.
Pretty impressively place. Stamp your passport at your own risk.(€10) (I wouldn't do it!) visit the museum too!
Definitely one of THE most important history spots around the Berlin Wall.
A must. If you get emotional with this, you're a teenager with ADHD or your heart is made of stone.
A must see place in Berlin
get there before 5 the black box closes!
Easy to find and interesting. You can take a picture and pay in dollars or euros. The museum is very informative as well.
Avoid weird pro-Communist (homeless?) protesters who try to rile up the "guards" on duty. Take your pictures and tell everyone you've visited.
Beware tourist! The staffs there will push you if you try to take photos even from distance... Saying it's not free to take photo €2 / person
Too touristy unlike other monuments in Berlin
Happening .. Full of action
Stamp your passport at your own risk. Some authorities may consider it s crime, be aware.
Berlin wall crossing point. A must see monument in Berlin's history
The prices are definitely for tourists, but it's quiet interesting
Definitely a cool historical site, however the soldiers dressed in uniform will ask if you want a picture and charge you for it. You can also get your passport stamped here!
Be very careful if you cycle around here. The trucks and the Buses don't care about you. There have been multiple bad accidents here.
Swing by to get a picture but no reason to linger
McDonald's with wifi right next to it and a photobooth near the small musuem.
Does not worth to get in to black box
nothing special here. Place of great historical significance nevertheless.
Pretty touristy but worth a visit. If you feel like throwing away some money you can pay to get a checkpoint stamp (or a few) in your passport :)
I really left the #American #sector at #Checkpoint #Charlie in #Berlin. Yeah, I really did it yesterday.For a couple of minutes. ;-)
#Breakfast at #Kamps #Backstube near #Checkpoint #Charlie in #Berlin.Je suis Checkpoint! 😀
"You are entering the American Sector. Carrying weapons off duty forbidden. Obey traffic rules."
Very close to the U6, historical site, worth visit for every American (and anyone else).
a place where you read a lot about east and west berlin and the berlin wall
It's a good place to visit in Berlin.
The most overrated sight in Berlin in my opinion. The wall memorial at Bernauer Strasse is much more worth seeing and informative.
Very tacky tourist attraction, with actors playing border guards and a large McDonalds beside it. Avoid.
Anticlimax.. McDonalds? Yeah, really..
Boring crowded place for tourists
Not even the real site. JusT a scam for money
Very famous spot in History. Tour bus will go here. Small but very interesting.
