Contrary to the the other tips I thought the service was pretty good. The burger was amazing and the fries are to die for. I don't know what spices they use but I couldn't believe how tasty they were.

The grilled cheese goes great with tomatoes and avocado (it has American and Gouda in it!). The eggs Benedict/florentine are also a staple. The hangover sandwich is great (even without the bacon)
    Lori Berenberg · August 18, 2014

My go-to place on Union Square. I like their huevo rancheros and the salmon eggs Benedict the most for brunch. Come for cocktail hour and order the coconut shrimps. DON'T get the Mac and Cheese
    Liva · February 16, 2015

Yes, it's actually a restaurant, and surprise, their specialty is authentic Brazilian! Get the shrimp baiano, a shrimp stew from Bahia, that comes with kale, fried plantains and plenty of white rice.

Turkey croissant with herbed fries is on point. California wrap with scrambled eggs and avo served all day is a staple. Staff isn't the most attentive but you came to sit outside so who cares.

Everyone will tell you that Coffee Shop is a solid choice for an evening cocktail or a laid back brunch... What they don't say is that this place cures hangovers. The hangover sandwich is perfect.
    Alex Kesling · August 16, 2014
  • Christina P.
The cheese fries are incredible! Cheese and flecks of basil throughout! You won't need to order that $2 cup of cheese on the side bc it has enough down to the last bite! Music is fun too!!

Pretentious model waitresses who take way too long to do EVERYTHING. But solid spot for upscale diner food and sweet bar area if u want to grab a drink with your laptop near Union square

Service from the greeter to waiter was poor starting at 9:30am on a Sunday we're asked if we had a reservation for our party of 5, say no and get seated, waiter wrong 3 times. Get better at a dinner

More deals made per square foot than anywhere else south of 34th Street. Where nigthlife spends the day, if it wakes up before dusk. Juice bar strongly recommended for hair of the dog. [BlackBook] Read more

Brunch place to go near Union Square. The ambiance is not so cozy as the name sounds. Was rather ratchet/jazzy/bar-like. Approachable brunch spot esp for rainy day

The best French toast and bacon ever! Delicious coffee, friendly staff and a great menu! A definite top choice for brunch, always.

The outside seats are great to see the people come and go in this crowded place but the staff is not friendly and they want to take you out. I ask for the dessert that never comes.

Hot waitstaff. I shamelessly come here weekday afternoons at 12 to start boozing. Oh the hard life! The grilled corn is a must. Almost like habanas (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more

BBQ chicken sandwich is very good. Crispy fries. Pineapple upside down cake was mediocre and tasted like it had cornmeal in it. Needed more brown sugar and delete the cornmeal. Otherwise decent place

don't bother walking in to get a dessert to go. they list prices & charge Xtra. could have gotten it for less via seamless. &the guy just said "well I told them about the price." told who??? no one!

Let's not kid ourselves - this place has a following only because of the 'aspiring model' waitresses. Still - the food lacks spice and took forever. You can do better around here. Juices are 💪🏼 tho
    Raphael Langenscheidt · October 12, 2015
  • Lara Z.
The raspberry caipirinha is yummy and fresh. Have one along with their fried calamari. Or my favorite, pao de queijo (Brazillian cheese bread). Even Atkins would green light this!
    Lara Z · March 16, 2010
  • Gunnar B.
The staff here is terrible, they treat you like you are disturbing the peace while all you do is pay their salary. Food is good though, and that's the problem! Order a bloody maryy!
    Gunnar B · February 20, 2012

Coffee Shop breathes new life into an old favorite, brownie a la mode. The brownie is warmed and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Try it with coffee ice cream.
    Valerie Seckler · May 10, 2013

make sure you're showing some skin in order for a bartender to pay attention to you. also, if you want good service sit in the middle of the bar or else you will get neglected.

Brunch is sneaky good, also had the brownie a la mode which was good as well. Trendy spot to hit up during the day for lunch or brunch on the weekend.

i will never go to this place again. i used to go ~3 times per week for breakfast. Bad service, uncomfortable seating, and ultimately a nasty hostess refusing to seat me has led to a permanent boycott

This isn't a place you go for service (we're pretty sure the servers don't care whether you eat or not), but it's hard to beat the location (right on Union Square West).
    Percolate · April 14, 2012

Here's the thing, the food here isn't really anything to write home about (except the Truffle Fries, duh), but it's a fun place to sip a cocktail and be seen.

Enjoyed meal until Security told my party that they close at 5:30am. As we were still eating breakfast. Yes. You read that correctly. We were still eating. Hadn't even received the bill yet. SMH.

We have a soft spot for this chill (and still chic) joint. Their Jazzy Brunch is fun (try the English Grill) and the tuna over greens is a favorite.

great place to eat, but very expensive for a bagel with bacon, lettuce and tomatoand a little arugula on the side for $20! great taste, expensive though

Don't expect to be seated in the front unless you're attractive. Unspoken house rule. Not kidding. And exactly why the entire staff consists of's delish tho!

Was here during lunch hour but we were only having coffee at the bar, service was nice, they didn't try to rush us out even though we were there for an hr or two.

Do not come here, low quality food and service. Had to send side of bacon back 2x's, once being raw, second time looking like it was a week old. Opt for ABC Kitchen, Craftbar or Almond.

Besides typical regular diner fare, have great Latino eats like arepas, media noche, feijoada & many others. Be sure to order their pao de queijo!

The waitstaff here is terrible, but the food is good, it's fabulous for celeb spotting and people watching and tons of movies and TV shows have filmed here!
  • Esther L.
Beef fajitas are so yummy and I got a glas of Malbec from Argentina that was pretty decent. Outside seats on Spring/Summer nights are a big plus.

Our waitress stole money from the check & tried to accuse us of not tipping her when we actually tipped her generously for the poor service. Managers don't care about complaints either.

Nice husband/wife team will cook you just about anything. I like the grilled cheese or the pastrami on rye. Everything is quick and cheap!

If you get the guy that waits on the patio tables, give him a break. He never has any help and the patio can get crazy on sunny days.

The food is definitely great, and yes, the eye candy is nice.. but when your appetizer comes out when your meal is done.. that's a problem.

Vegetable spring roll is a total ripoff. Skip it and get the calamari- best value on the menu and it's so good you'll want a second order.

Drinks and food are good. Models are nice to look at, service can be a bit..... Underwhelming. Especially if you don't look like a model yourself. Good thing I do. Jk.

You couldn't pay me to ever eat here again. The waitresses are snobbish and rude and need to be knocked off their pedestals. Apparently they don't get paid hourly and survive on tips.

Let's understand the truth, the food is just ok, the location killer, the staff georgous and the ability to run into a techguy almost assured.

Worst Bloody Mary in the city - and it's house made (?!?!) I can deal with the mediocre service - they're models/actors...whatever. The food needs to make up for it.
