The quick walk into the town centre is closed for building works, follow the signs for a slightly less scenic (is anywhere in this town scenic?!) route.

Huge lifts to all platforms big enough for bikes etc., but just not obvious to find when you arrive from the ticket hall. Just go onto Platform 1 and turn left: the lift is opposite Customer Services.

There's a train guard with the loudest voice in the world ever working here. He makes the whole platform shake with his shout. So loud it's hilarious!
There is a new station announcer who sounds like he should be a game show host.
The train from Cov to Leamington Spa and vice versa is almost always late. On the rare occasions that it is on time, you have to sit down in shock ;-)

Need to get to London early? The first two trains of the day classify as off peak. So if you can make the 5:50 or 6:11 you can save money!
If leaving the Station for the City Centre by foot, there is another route over the Ring Road which takes u towards the Council Hse and CovUni more quickly. Just turn R out of the Station, then L.
The platform 1 to London & the overtaking tips are *generally* true. But in times of major disruption anything can happen, and it's first out not first in the the overtaking rule.

Don't buy from any of the outlets in the station unless you are in a rush, the retail park across the road has cheaper and nicer things. Also there is a newsagents nearby opposite the bus stops
If you're just staying for one day, you can pay for car parking before you catch your train! Useful to avoid queues on the way back!
Self serve machines quicker than the people. However only machines left of the ticket office accepts cash
Pumpkin cafe do nice milkshakes.
The tip about trains overtaking isn't true. A slow train will either be held on the platform to make way for a virgin train or it'll happen at Birmingham international! Be wary when choosing trains!
If you've got a long wait there is a Burger King not to far out of the station
If you have a season ticket friends and family can travel with you off peak for £1 for a return ticket.
Don't think you can buy your ticket on the train. You can't and you being thrown off slows the the trip down for the rest of us.
Not a friendly or convenient station if you're travelling with a bike, pram or wheelchair. Be warned!

Travel to Birmingham on a Virgin Train and it's cheaper and faster, wahey! Oh and WHSmiths is expensive (as expected). There is a newsagent closeby.

Trains between Coventry and Birmingham rarely overtake each other, thus generally your best to get on the first train to brum even if it's a slow one.
Virgin Trains to London Euston almost always depart from platform 1. Virgin Trains to Birmingham New St almost always depart from platform 3.
Make sure you get a seat before all the college kids get on the train!
The coffee at the Ritazza coffee stand is the worst coffee ever.
