Howard station is the northern terminus of the Red Line and the southeastern terminus of the Yellow Line; it also serves the Purple Line, for which it is the southern terminus outside of weekday rush hours.
It would not surprise me to learn that the "this station smells" and most other anti-transit "tips" were posted by people who work(ed) at new automobile dealerships.
Make sure you get on the right train, and keep your eye on your stuff, this track gets crowded
Cold out here
Northern terminal for the Red Line. Also serves the Yellow & Purple Lines. During weekday rushes, catch the southbound Purple line express to Belmont.
Red, Yellow, Purple.
Purple Line = THEY ARE NEVER ON TIME!
If you're going to the Loop and work near Clark, take Purple to Belmont, then take Red the rest of the way. The Purple moves PAINFULLY slow after Belmont and stops every 4 sec. for "signal clearance."
Have to pee on your way to Evanston after a night of drinking? TOO BAD
If you are going to Skokie, take the CTA Yellow Line!
Yes, you are going to be late.
We are standing momentarily waiting for signal clearance. We expect to be moving momentarily. Don't be surprised this is normal with CTA
Very busy station!!!
What the hell is with North bound reds pulling into the south bound side ? Schedule much??? Get better organization ! We need the purple and yellow lines so make them wait!
Finally fixed that loud ass escalator. Add at least 15 mins to any trip if you're switching to Purple or Yellow Line.
What the hell, a purple or yellow line seems to always leave going north when a redline is pulling in. Whats up with these idiots?
The ventra cards now work
The buscard machines never work
The staff here does nothing to help patrons experience with syncing trains letting departing train CLOSE doors as arriving train opens doors & here we sit at least another 15 20 WAITIN f'n ridiculous!
The but hole off the cta
Don't park in the garage next door, it steals your cash when you try to get out.
A schedule , what a great idea . We should tell the CTA. Oh wait they could give a $&i%
The north and southbound purple line almost always has "technical delays" when departing this station. Expect 15 minutes
Alex is the best train operator ever! He always gets me to work on time at 5am on Saturday mornings -and always with a smile ! (which is usually more than I can muster at that time of day) :D
Fuck this station. They make transfers so inconvenient
Purple line to the loop doesn't run after 9:45 am. And I've been waiting for it for nearly half an hour. A mistake I will *not* make again.
Train times getting better...
Be careful. Don't trust the colors on the side of the trains. I got on a purple line towards the loop here and then was kicked off at the end of the platform because the train was ending its run.
Never a purple or red at Howard when you get there
Parking garage USED to be free. Now it is a flat $5 charge. Need exact amount (no change given on $10s or $20s.
Trains may not follow the schedule all the time but there is one not far behind.
History lesson: This station was rebuilt in 1921 when the line through the station was elevated onto an embankment. An escalator was added in 1964.
Take the purple line express train even if you need to get on the red line towards the loop because its faster and directly takes you to Fullerton no stops and you can hop on red line there!!!!
The supervisor here is sooo against photographing even if the CTA website states that they welcome photographing. I think the PR people of CTA failed to send him the memo or he is just a crank.
Don't rely too much on the purple line.
It's much better to sleep on the blue line
Lots of people looking like they can't wait to roll you......
Even the birds get impatient waiting for the purple line.
Purple line is chronically slow. Be sure to leave lots of time for waiting.
If you are coming from Skokie, on the yellow line, the red line will leave as you arrive at the station.
Always be aware of who is around you.
I have never had a problem catching a train here. My CTA app tells me exactly when to be at the station.
It smells like dried puke.lol. howard never fails
The @CTA system @ Howard needs to start being more responsible on being on time & not be waiting for over 15-20min! Its only this platform!
Why does the red line always run so slow when leaving Howard??
Would it hurt CTA to clean the platforms more frequently the urine smell is over powering
CTA and scheduling would be a great idea.
The magical, fleeting moment when a red, purple, and yellow train are all at the station simultaneously.
Someone poopped their pants on this train
Never ever depend the buses to be on time. It always an epic failure.
