Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is the largest public garden on the east side of Midtown. Check out the Katharine Hepburn Garden (who formerly lived nearby). The garden bench was a gift from her estate.
This plaza is actually a 1.5 acre park that occupies the entire south side block between First and Second Avenues on East 47th St. Check out the Greenmarket here every Wednesday, weather permitting.
