The DMA offers a variety of art and historical collections and exhibits for public consumption. It not only offers great collections but also hosts jazz performers free Thursday nights!
I liked the place, but hall monitors follow folks around like gestapo. The exhibits are not Vatican or Louvre quality or age, and 95% of exhibit can be photographed. So, what's the big deal @ photos?
The Museum houses the works of artists from every continent - many of which tell stories from thousands of years ago. Public admission to the Museum is complimentary to all.
The real highlight was the Emery and Wendy Reves collection, incorporating elements from Coco Chanel (for the fashionistas) and Sir Winston Churchill (for the conservative political buffs)!
This museum holds a renowned collection of treasures and timeless exhibits. Permanent collections include Ten Treasures, highlighting the key areas of the museum's interests.

I love this museum. It has a great variety of art from various periods. Personally, I enjoy the contemporary pieces.
The general admission displays are worth it, let alone the special exhibits. I'm particularly a fan of the paintings.
Take your time and keep track of what you've seen as it's easy to get turned around. Very clean and staff is friendly and helpful. Very nice free museum.

Go see the "Youth and Beauty Art of the American Twenties" exhibit for some fantastic pieces by O'Keeffe and Steiglitz.
The garden area outside of the museum is free. A great place to take a break in downtown Dallas.
Currently (not sure if it's their permanent collection) have a great show of maya, Olmec, and Aztec art with rather in depth wall writings explaining the cultures.
Oftentimes there's free events and concerts in the summer, I love going to the Jazz in the Atrium on Thursday nights! So excited that it's FREE now!

So it has been awhile since I have been here, but they have totally redesigned the "kid" area into an all age friendly space for tactile experiences. FTW!
I bought a very nice book in the museum store called "This is Texas". Good for children and adults
Summer Special: delicious salad from the chef gallery, $6.50. You pick what's in it.

You need at least 3 hours to enjoy it... But you could spend an entire day here. Much bigger than we had anticipated.
On the third Friday of each month, the Dallas Museum of Art remains open until midnight.
Even though membership is not required the children's programming is great so it is well worth it.
Great pieces considering that the museum is free, I recommend maybe 4 hrs to do the entire museum.
Chagall exhibit is great! Here till May 26. His sketches for his painting of the Paris Opera house ceiling are here! :)
Jim Hodge's - Give More Than You Take is worth visiting several times!
