Site of free summer concerts within the Guggenheim Bandshell. Named for Leopold Damrosch who founded the New York Symphony Orchestra which rivaled the Philharmonic before merging with it in 1928.
From the Archives: On May 22, 1969, Damrosch Park and the Guggenheim Band Shell opened. The band shell was designed by Eggers & Higgins, Architects.
