Try heirloom apples rarely found in stores at Weston's Antique Apples, a stand on Mifflin near State Street. Stop by each week to sample varieties harvested at different times in the season.

The earlier you go, the less crowded it will be. If you get tired of following the crowd, try walking on the Capitol lawn instead.

A must-try or buy is Brunkow Cheese (typically on either Main or Pinckney, with a red and white striped tent) - their sizzling cheese and squeaky curds top all other cheese vendors.

Best farmers market I've ever seen. 4-6 city blocks of farmers selling product. Unlike our local "farmers" market, which is mostly people peddling crap.
